We've been thinking about taking the kids to the Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas within the next year or so. At max, they would be 6, 4, and 2 at the time. There's a possibility that I may be pregnant at the time as well depending on how things work out.
Is there realistically enough to do there for a week long (Saturday - Saturday) trip, especially given the ages of the kids? We were thinking about possibly going mid-June.
Anything else I should know? I've never been to the Bahamas before and DH hasn't been in a very long time.
But have you been with kids, @sfgal530 ? I think it's a different experience.
We're going tomorrow, so I can come back to this thread and update you. From what I hear, it's THE most kid-friendly hotel in the Bahamas.
We stayed at the Sheraton Resort on Cable Beach with DS last year, and it was a snooze-fest for kids. Nothing to do within walking distance, and very limited restaurant options
Sure, we're used to exotic vacations and quiet resorts. But at DS's age especially, I'm happy we're going to a place with lots of action for a change. There's an onsite aquarium, water park, and loads of family activities. When we booked I wasn't excited. Not a bragplaint. But Atlantis is CRAZY. Not what I'm used to.
DH is thrilled to take DS. We've been onsite a few times, but just to walk around, not as guests.
This trip was DH's "pick" as we rotate who decides. But now that we're approaching departure, I'm kind of pumped that there will be stuff for DS to see/do pretty much 24/7. I know we can step outside, and regardless of which way we turn, there will be something for him to see or do.
Yes it's tacky and not a cultural experience... But there's a Starbucks, pools that are open late, and lots of kid-friendly restaurants.

Thanks, CloudBee. I'll look forward to hearing about your trip!
If DH and I were going by ourselves, we'd choose to stay somewhere else. But, yeah...we've got three noisy children who are still at an age where they need to be entertained on vacation. I'm not looking for a swanky hotel with fine cuisine here.

We stopped there during a cruise a couple of years ago. It was nice to see, but ridiculously overpriced for what you get, IMO. I don't know that I could spend a week there. I was really, really disappointed.
