“Life is not orderly. No matter how we try to make it so, right in the middle of it lose a leg, fall in love, drop a jar of applesauce.” - Natalie Goldberg
I have heard that American English teachers are in high demand and can make up to 250 - 300k a year there. You get 6 weeks off 2x a year to go visit family/vacation. I have threatened my DH that I may do this when my twins hit puberty.
I don't think I could live in Bahrain. The culture is too extreme there towards women. Also its a desert.
Edit: wiki says the country's views towards women and homosexuals are quite relaxed compared to the rest of the middle east. I'm sure it would still be pretty different there as an american woman compared to the USA.

A few years ago, DH was offered a job working with the Egyptian Navy, as an expert on one of the types of ship they had gotten from the US Navy. We talked about it for a few months, but when it came down to it, neither of us wanted to be that far away from family, even making $150K+ per year, tax free.
I'm so glad we decided not to take it, because shortly afterward, he was offered a better job in the shipyard he works at, the contract for the Egypt job switched to year-to-year, and was hung up in negotiations for almost a year, and then Arab Spring happened. DH couldn't get a hold of his contact there for about 3 months.
YES! My friend was stationed there and absolutely loved it. Any kind of food delivered to your door for cheap. Sunday buffets with tons of booze (if you are western) and a ginormous house, comes with maid, for cheap.

Probably. We have friends who are over there working in the tech industry and teaching. H spent time in Bahrain and Dubai when he was in the Navy and he loved it there.
