The search begins again for cute dressy-ish tall (knee high) boots for fall. I have been searching for years and still have yet to find a pair. I am looking for brown suede or leather (my no. 1 choice), size 6 1/2, with a lower heel. I would be wearing them with skirts and tights mostly. I have looked at duo boots and haven't found anything I like. I love aquatalia liberty or oralie but can't justify the price. I also like cole haan Dorian, but the calf is too wide. I would prefer to spend around $150-175, but might go up to $300 if they were perfect. My calf measurement is 11-11 1/2". Can you recommend any brands, designers or specific boots that might be an option for me?
I really struggle with this too, but I also have large feet. So, the calves are always huge in my size. Zappos allows you to search by calf circumference so that is helpful. Other than that, I usually try on about every boot at DSW.
I live in Chicago so I have a lot of boots. I have pretty good luck with Frye's. Some of the styles are narrow enough for my calves. Franco Sarto's also tend to be narrow in the calf. I also have a couple of random brands that I found at DSW that fit well. Really, I think it is just a lot of trial and error. Good luck!

I have a pair of Stuart Weitzman that I love. Pricey but they have held up very well and fit better than most. I have some cole haan that are decent too but I wouldn't spend the money again. I would only buy cole haan on a super sale because the quality is not there.
I am interested too see what others come up with! I want more boots! Especially ankle boots

I also have this issue. I spent a lot of money on some cute Coach boots, and they fit fine in the foot area, but they are swimming on me around my calves. Maybe I should do some calve raises? LOL. I wonder if Tory Burch boots are more fitted in that area?
I have the same problems. I found these to be just right and picked them up during the anniversary sale. Some of the reviews even complain about the small calf size. I believe the calf is 14" which should be good considering you may have socks, leggings or skinny jeans underneath.
I have the same issue and bought a pair of Vince Camuto Valero boots at Nordstrom last winter. I'm actually a 6.5 too and they are a great fit - great quality for $130 boots too.
They aren't leather on the back, which was the one drawback for me, but they fit like a glove and look amazing (and almost identical to my friend's stuart weitzman 5050s)
Ooo love these - esp in the cognac. Are they pretty high? (asks 5'11" gal)
Hell wise or shaft wise? I didn't feel that they were super high but you are also asking a girl who is shorter than 5'. Shaftwise, the shaft was too narrow for me and the shaft kept running into the back of my knees. Seems to be a recurring problem for this shorty.
I think it was 3" or under. Anything taller I wouldn't have been able towalk. But these felt super comfy. Go up a half size from your normal though. They run a tad small.
