So she goes in on Wednesday for a consult on her upcoming chemotherapy. She's getting around great after the surgery she had a month ago--I'm impressed. My aunts and cousins, as well as her friends, have been coming around to check on her, but she's doing fabulous at this point. Granted she's still teeny tiny but her spirits are good and she's focusing on the positive. I plan to hang out with her as much as possible while I'm here AND to get her a text phone so I can stay in touch with her daily after I go home. : )

She just recently quit her job working for my stepdad which I think is a wise decision for her. She's worked for him for 24 years, and quite frankly, has gotten away with not being a very reliable employee. I think she needs to get out in the working working and build some new relationships. Plus, she has had flashbacks about the seizure my stepdad had at the office six months ago. I think this is an all-around healthy decision she's made.
i offered to help her look for a job, but so far she hasn't taken me up on it.

Well, I kind of thought that when you mentioned the text phone. My 71 year old mother would never be able to do it. We tried; she failed. We somehow managed to tutor her on navigating FB. That in and of itself was an accomplishment.
Mom and I have already talked about getting her affairs in order (her will needs to be updated) and she has started to ask me if I want any of her furniture. She's very calm and realistic about it, which is a relief to me.

I can understand her not having a lot of experience with tech. I was just trying to brain storm things that might be easy for her. I will say, I was able to teach my grandma how to text on my old phone. It was one with a slide out qwerty keyboard. If my grandma can do that I'm sure your mom can too.
I'm glad that your mom is doing as well as she is. You guys are in my thoughts.

Yep I told Mom that I was going to take her down to her phone carrier's store and get her a text phone while I'm visiting and i plan on doing it on Tuesday after the back-to-school crowd has died down. : )
