I just called 911 because a woman passed out in the restaurant we're in. (She is conscious now, fortunately.) This is the second time I've called. The first was when a dog was in a hot car with no windows down. I actually called non-emergency for that, but they transferred me to 911.
Once in high school when a friend OD'd at a party and once for a patient when I worked at a dental office.
I actually called the non-emergency line to request paramedics for the patient (the doc told me to call non-emergency rather than 911) and I got chewed out by the operator. Apparently, any request for paramedics is an emergency call, even when it isn't really an emergency. Haha.
Only when I was really little trying to test it. I hung up right away and then they called back and my mom picked up the phone. I got in big big trouble...
Twice? Once when I got into a car accident and once at work when someone fell out of their wheelchair and hit their head. We've actually had to call a bunch at work, but I'm normally not there at the time (the staff make the call and then notify me)

Aside from doing it when really young and hanging up (to which they of course called back and I got in trouble, the only time I've done it I was about 18. My brother had a grand mal seizure and my dad yelled to me to call. That phone call and the passing minutes waiting for the ambulance while he seized were the longest minutes of my life.

A few times, usually if I have seen a traffic accident. I've also called for my mother (anaphylaxis), for a guy who collapsed at Kroger and a few times while at work for patients.
A few times, to report accidents. The latest, a couple months ago. I witnessed a terrible accident (car vs 18 wheeler) in my rear view mirror, and wanted to get the ambulance out there ASAP.
More than I can remember. A few times for accidents I've seen but mostly I've had to at work since I work in a school of 1000 kids and am an assistant principal... And the emergencies always seem to happen when I'm around!
I've called a few times driving up on car accidents. I don't call 911 usually, I call the direct line to the dispatcher. I tell them who I am and give them a scene size up with number of patients, if they need to be extricated, fire, ect.

I've been lucky, I haven't had to at all. I almost did when a dumpster was on fire in the parking lot at a storage place behind our old apartment, but when I got my phone I saw someone else on their phone looking at it so I knew they were calling. Fire truck showed up a couple minutes later!
Never. I've called non-emergency line a bunch though, most recently when the pup and I got locked out of my car & house on a day when temps were high nineties. They were not able to help though.
A few times. I typically call if I witness an accident or if it looks like a pretty big accident and no one is on the scene yet. I keep thinking about that story about the woman in New York who was stabbed like a billion times and no one called 911 because they thought someone else had. I also called 911 for myself once when H was deployed, I was alone in my apartment, and I was about to blackout. I didn't want to die and have no one notice for days and my poor dog to starve (serious thought as I was "dying" lol).
I called 911 six years ago because my ex was at my door and I was scared! I told him to leave, he refused; so I said I would call the police, and so I did. That was the last time I ever saw him.

First time was as a kid, hung up, and they called back. Lesson learned.
Second time was to get my MIL out of our house in April because she was having a psychotic break and we knew that would be the only way to get her to the hospital. My FIL had talked to her therapist and agreed she needed to go. We also weren't sure if she's taken her meds or not, and if so, how much she might have taken. Fun times. This is why I don't recommend anyone let people live with them - she was sane when we agreed to let them move in, and then eventually got to that point. They've been out since May and our lives are sooooo much better now.
I have called 911 to report a couple different drunk drivers who were obviously having a hard time staying in their lanes. They were sliding from side to side from going over the yellow line to going into the bike lane.
I called 911 to report a dead deer that was in the fast lane on a blind curve.
I called 911 on a guy who was road raging with us on the hwy. He didn't like that we got in front of him, so he passed us on the right and slammed into the the side of our car and then wanted to fight when we pulled over. That was terrifying because we were engaging with him, he simply was a fucking nut on the road. I was a little concerned when we got the accident report and both of our addresses were on it, I didn't like knowing that he had our address.
I also called the non-emergency line to report a dog in a hot car which was parked in the hospital's parking lot. The owner came out and screamed at me over that one.

I have called a couple times that I can recall.
Once was when I was in my car accident in 2013. They wouldn't come out because it happened on private property.
Called last year when my neighbor's dogs wouldn't stop barking from midnight to 4 am when DH was recovering from falling off the roof (and after multiple nights of it happening).
Called again recently because our problem neighbor's son was riding his dirt bike up and down our street for about an hour. Normally I wouldn't care (yes, it's annoying but there are bigger issues in life) but now that we have a little one on the way I fear the constant noise waking up the baby...trying to put a stop to it now before it becomes a bigger problem. He's not allowed to legally ride it (since it's not street legal) but he gets bored and decides to ride his road bike for fun...or, because they are constantly having to tune it up since he trains/races motorcross. I have a feeling I will be calling many times before we see any changes (I do feel bad about this because I hate bothering the cops for stupid stuff like this).

You called 911 for these? Or the non-emergency police line?

pooh8402- Non-emergency line that was transferred to dispatch (dog barking was sent to animal control).
I should clarify that we have tried to have rational conversations with the dirt bike neighbor but unfortunately those never go well or get us anywhere. Last one was between DH and neighbor where the wife, daughter, and husband all ganged up (screaming at DH, calling him names, threats to fight, etc) on DH and the police were called by a different neighbor. These people don't believe any of the laws apply to them and are extremely inconsiderate to all neighbors around them. Literally, everyone on our street has issues with them...I honestly don't ever see them changing- in fact, it just keeps getting worse and makes DH and I want to move elsewhere, even though we love all our other neighbors and our house.
