I got an early birthday present yesterday (PIP)

I went up to WI to see my parents yesterday, and my brother was there too. We weren't sure the next time we'd all be together, so they gave me my birthday present a couple months early.

It is just like the one my parents had when I was a kid, which I wrote some of my first short stories on.
It's something I've long thought it would be cool to have but probably never would have bought for myself.

One thing I have discovered so far is that it's really hard to type on it as I would type on a computer keyboard. My ring and pinky fingers can't seem to strike the keys hard enough to get a good imprint. I'll have to develop those muscles. Also, I realize how heavily reliant on the "delete" key I am!

Anyhow, I'm not planning to use it to type a novel or anything, but I do some have artsy things planned.
