Amen. I am so not a heels person. I have a few pairs, most 2 inches or less. I love kitten heels. I wear heels to work on days I have meetings but if I don't have a meeting, no way…I will never be a 4-inch heel person, I genuinely don't understand how people can wear them. My feet always hurt. I don't think Louboutins would even make it better.
I'm actually headed out shopping now for flats. With my new position I have to go in the plant again and can't wear more than a 1.5" heel and most of my heels are 2.5". Plus, the stupid metal shank and nails set off metal detectors. Here's hoping that DSW has something professional, with support, not ugly, in a size 11.
I am fine with flats for casual situations but just do not feel appropriately dressed for work if I am not in a heel.

You need an oxford or a patent loafer.
It's what men wear for work. I don't see why a woman can't wear them and look polished and professional. Try it with slim pants, a button down, and a blazer.
You could even wear them with a dress but I think that takes building up to in terms of adjusting yourself from the idea that skirts call for heels.
These are all from this blog so I suggest we follow her lol

I put all my heels in storage recently because I can't think of an upcoming time when I'll need them. I have high arches too but a good insert (or wedges, which I also love) is all I need.
True story: I have never found a pair of ballet flats that I like. They all either don't give me support or rub my heels or squish my toes in weird ways. I have had much better luck with heels.
Thats what I said! And how could anyone hate the backless dress I was wearing? But they beat me up anyway
I apologize for not telling you couldn't wear brown shoes with a black dress. That was very wrong of me.
lol THATS why they were mad at me! Anyway, now I just wear my usual clogs, pantaloons and sombrero outfit when riding my penny farthing bicycle. Its just safer.

Just make sure they are cute clogs. Nothing too wooden or with a heel higher than 3/4in. Otherwise, you risk absurdity.

Word. I would love to wear some and not pay a billion dollars for them.

I'm glad to hear it. I have a trade show coming up soon with a huge show floor, and I know from experience that if I wear heels, I will be limping and probably bleeding from blisters by the end of the first day, no matter how broken in/comfy the heels are in other contexts. I see other women in heels at events like this and I honestly just don't know how they do it.
Also, I sprained my ankle a week ago and I am not sure I will be able to safely manage anything other than flats without making my sprain worse. I'm planning outfits entirely around my ability to wear flats with them.
Men get off so easy with work shoes. Theirs might not be as comfy as, say, tennis shoes, but they don't contort your feet and stride, plus they can (have to) wear socks for extra cushion and protection against blisters and sweat.

It's funny you say that. I always pity men for having to wear socks in summer. If it's over about 60* out my feet get so hot I can't wear socks or closed shoes or my feet get so hot they start swelling! I would die if I had to wear socks all day for work. Even wearing socks to run are an issue for 3/4 of the year in eastern PA.
I like flats but then I need a separate pants collection that aren't too long.
Or get them hemmed?
But then you can't wear them with heels again.
This is why I love skinny jeans. One length, goes with heels and flats. I have read the fall fashion thread, but please tell me skinny jeans are still in.
I never ever wear heels to work anymore. I teach, so it's not a super dressy environment anyway. But being on my feet all day, I am in so much pain if I wear heels. I typically only wear them for things like Parent Night/Open House with a sheath dress or something.
