I have some questions but not enough to warrant a whole thread…so if you have questions post them too.
I think I have a clogged milk duct. I can't feel it but that is probably because I have cystic boobs so I can't tell what is cyst and what isn't…here are some details.
Left boob - I normally produce a lot less from this side and DD nurses less from it. It hurts. Not enough to really bother me but enough that I notice. I pumped after feeding DD this morning and got maybe 1/4 ounce from that side (1 ounce total). She just fed now and cried when I fed her from that side. It is not red. I have no fever. I noticed the pain in the MOTN.
I guess my biggest question is related to if it will make her sick if I have an infection?
rugbywife, it doesn't sound like you have mastitis, but I would keep trying to empty that breast. Also, you can continue nursing even if you do have mastitis.

Thanks, I figured the pain would be worse if I had mastitis. I was just wondering about her crying but it could be because I probably have shitty let down on that side. I will keep trying to empty it.

No, it won't make her sick if you do have an infection. It does sound like possibly a clogged duct. Definitely keep nursing on that side to empty the breast, and try to keep her nose pointed toward where you think the clogged duct is. A warm washcloth might help as well.
Anyone's kid have tubes put in their ears? If M keeps getting ear infections Dr said we will likely have to.
How many times did they have issues before you decided on tubes? Was it bad for the baby/kid?
It wasn't my DD but a close friend's…her daughter literally had ear infection after infection in her first year of life. I know that the doctors considered it so bad that she had tubes put in earlier than usually suggested (I want to say at 2 years of age but I could be wrong). I do know that it helped.
rugbywife it does sound like a clogged duct. Try applying moist heat before each session and feeding that side first (if you offer both sides each session). You can also try massaging the tender area. Lastly, try dangle feeding (baby below you).
If you develop mastitis you can still safely BF and will not pass the infection on to your LO.
Mastitis symptoms are redness, fever, aches, and feeling crappy. Call your doc right away if you think you have mastitis (it can appear and worsen quickly).

It could be a clogged duct but I too have cystic boobs and that sounds like what happens to me when my cysts get larger (I have one on the right side that gets very large to the point you can see it just by looking at it). It usually lasts a few days before it goes back down. I try to nurse more from that side and only pump if i have to ( pumping hurts and sometimes won't fit right)
If it's a clog also check your nipple for those white bits. They are bits of fat sitting in your milk pores and one bit might be being stubborn and not coming out and stopping up the milk behind it. GL clogged ducts suck.
1) when did you introduce puffs if you did purées? 2) what age did you night wean? DS still wakes up at least 1x a night but I don't know if it's habit. He eats and goes right back down but sometimes I miss sleeping for more than 4 hours. 3) when did you start three solid "meals" a day.

Any time my nipples are moist, leak, or otherwise are wet when wearing a shirt, they end up sticking to the fibers in my breast pads, bra, shirt, bedsheets, whatever they touch. It is painful to peel them back off. Any tips to keep my skin from sticking? I tried putting a thick coat of lanolin on before snapping up my shirt, but then if milk leaks out between feeds and dried that causes the skin to stick again.

1. You can do puffs anytime now. I think we started around 7 months, maybe a bit earlier. 3. I think close to a year, probably 11 months. At 6 months we only did supper, them around 7-8 months we introduced breakfast. By 10 months he was having maybe a little snack around lunch (like crackers or a stick of cheese). By 11 though he was having an actual lunch and starting to cut down on breast milk a fair bit.

Are you using disposable breast pads. I know when I tried to use the reusable ones in the beginning this happened. I did not have this problem with the target disposables
rugbywife It does sound like a clogged duct to me. I had one a few months ago and it felt like my breast was bruised on one side. DD wasn't getting much milk out of it. I took a hot shower and raked where it hurt with a wide tooth comb and massaged it. I could tell when it became clear during the massaging because more milk was coming out while I was doing it. You definitely want to try to get it unclogged if it is clogged so that it doesn't become an infection.

1. Around 6 months when DD was crawling. 2. We didn't night wean. DD started STTN around 8/9 months on her own. 3. We started 3 meals a day around 8 months I think.

We were OOT this weekend using disposable diapers when usually we use CD. DS made huge strides in rolling to his side. Coincidence or have his diapers been impeding his ability to learn to roll?

This board is like the Ear Tubes Fan Club. We didn't get them until DS was 2, but I wish it had been sooner. He had about 4 EI's from 8-18 months, but the fluid never drained. It impacted his hearing and thus speech. Hearing is fixed with tubes, but speech is still recovering.

DS is 7.5 months. We have tried puffs, he loves them now but sometimes choked on them because he just tries to swallow them.
We dont feed anymorw at night. If he wakes up we give binky and try to sooth without food.
We have been doing 3 meals a day since 6.5 months. He is a boy who loves his food.
Did anyone have a kid that didn't eat very much and was there anything you did about it? Why is my 5.5 month old suddenly waking up seven times a night? I'm so tired.

1. We started after she was crawling (maybe 7 or 8 months). We started around the same time that we started giving her finger foods. 2. Around 7 months, I stopped nursing her if she woke up before 2am. If it was after 2am, I fed her and put her back down. She gradually go to making it reliably until 4am without waking. She started STTN regularly about a month ago though. 3. We are just getting there now (we've been doing breakfast and dinner pretty regularly for a few months, just started adding lunch a few weeks ago).
1. When we do tummy time, M won't lift his head up much. Instead, he moves his legs like he's crawling, which drags his face and arms across the blanket. That annoys him. He lifts his head up well when I hold him up to my shoulder, so I know he can. Is this normal? What can I do to encourage him to lift his head during tummy time?
2. How can you tell if your supply drops? I have my 6 week appointment this week, so I hope to start exercising, but I'm paranoid about my supply dropping. Will I be able to tell right away, and if so, how? Fewer diapers, fussiness, extra nursing?

It sounds like a clogged duct to me. I had a lot of success with dangle feedings. It sounds odd, but really worked!

Can you prop up some interesting books? Or put a boppy under his chest?

When did you start giving your kiddo raisins? Do they need to be chopped up?
Raisins are a choking hazard because they stick together. If your kid eats a bunch at a time and tries to swallow they can get stuck. Just give a few at a time.

Thank you! I read somewhere to roll up a small towel under his chest, but he just dragged himself over it. I'll try the books and something bigger under his chest!

When did you drop the 3rd/early evening nap and just move to an earlier bed time? I find it so difficult to get him down for this nap, around 5:00ish. Today he just dozed while nursing from 5-5:30 but I didn't try to get him to nap properly. I started the bedtime routine at 6:30. He went down super easily and was out by 7:20. Am I going to regret this? He's 4.5 months for those on the app.

Oh and can I do almond milk or coconut milk for the transition instead of WCM?
I think they need the fat from WCM for brain development. Is D still having trouble with dairy?
Coconut milk does have some good fat content, but my understanding is that the protein and calcium content is lower than that in cow's milk.
I would ask your pedi. We are still BFing at 15m and my pedi is fine with us not introducing another milk source. Even after we wean, yogurt can provide many of the same benefits but is easier on sensitive stomachs.
