Any recommendations for good documentaries? I always take notes from these threads, but now my watchlist is really short.
I watched The Woman Who Wasn't There last night & found it fascinating. I also recently watched Pink Ribbons, Inc. and I think I've seen most Why-You-Should-Eat-Healthy documentaries.
I like almost any kind of documentaries & need something to watch while my H and BIL are occupying both TVs to play a video game (relocated TVs to be in the same room. What dorks!)
Have you seen the one about the guy with micro peen? That was kind of funny (because he makes fun of himself, not because I'm making fun of micro peen!).
Haven't seen that one, but I think I remember reading about it on here.
After Tiller The Paw Project Bridegroom The Island President Dirty Wars
Ooh! Those are all new to me! Thanks!
I think my level of excitement for finding new documentaries means I can't really make fun of my husband for the level of dorkiness that he's currently exhibiting.
After Tiller Dear Zachary (don't watch unless you're prepared to cry. I was ugly sobbing at the end) Best kept secret Spirit of the marathon Jesus Camp The Business of being born
It's not on netflix, but if you google it, it comes up on a documentary website or some legit site.
I think I've seen this one. I added it to my list again though. I have a terrible memory for what I have/have not seen. I usually realize it about half-way through!
The Elephant in the Living Room. It's about the people who keep exotic animals and how the local police try to help the situation. That's a really general synopsis, but I don't want to spoil anything.
"This prick is asking for someone here to bring him to task Somebody give me some dirt on this vacuous mass so we can at last unmask him I'll pull the trigger on it, someone load the gun and cock it While we were all watching, he got Washington in his pocket."

Ooh! That sounds good! We used to live near a Big Cat Sanctuary where a lot of the tigers, lions, etc. ended up going when they were found. There's an "Exotic Zoo" in a really rural place about an hour from us that would likely fit this, too. They're "on the radar" for animal neglect and other stuff, but I think they somehow squeak by without doing anything illegal.

The movie follows around a police officer mostly and it's all from his side. Like, look yeah the alligator is cute when it's a baby, but check out what I'm dealing with in 5 years. He is passionate about his job and really tries to help everyone, even when they don't deserve it, just so the animals are better off. It gets heavy towards the end though. Like, really fucking heavy.

Which big cat did you live near? My h's aunt owns Dade city wild things, in fl, and there is a big cat sanctuary in Tampa area...

Sorry to be misleading. Big Cat shouldn't have been capitalized. I didn't realize there was an actual BCS. It was when we lived in Texas. I don't recall the name anymore, but I ow that wasn't it.

I'm a glutton for punishment. I'm off to watch it now. Be back in 1.5 hrs! (Stupid iPad, I want to GBCN and watch/listen to a doc at the same time!)
that's okay, I was just curious, because I feel like h's aunt "pimps" out her animals so to speak, but wasn't sure if that was what you were talking about.

It was just so unexpected. To see a huge, amazing, wonderful, perfect, magnificent creature being electrocuted right in front of your eyes. Nothing can prepare you for the sounds he made. I just can't. That has stuck with me for a really long time.
I looked up what happened to Terry. He died "when his car collided with a train". ETA: while leaving his driveway with two passengers. (I was worried, considering his statements earlier in the doc.)
Oh shit. Scrolling through this thread, I was like, "Hmm this documentary sounds interesting. I'll add it to my list." But then I got to this part and was like NOOOOOPE. I cannot take watching anything like this dealing with animals. OMG. That would stay with me forever. Thank you for the warning!
Five Broken Cameras God Loves Uganda 7up Series State of Mind The Unknown Known 30 Days (documentary TV series) Miss Representation Fame High Jesus Camp Joan Rivers: Piece of Work Mine on Wire The Tillman Story Stephen Fry In America Mitt
The next on my to watch list: After Tiller The House We Live In The Square
