If your baby is sleeping and know that she has pooped, would you change her right away and risk waking her up or just let her sleep a little bit longer? Would letting your kid sleep a few more minutes in a poopy diaper make you a bad mom? Why don't babies come with a manual?
Baby is 10 days old. She sleeps during the day and is up all night. She is fed both breast milk and formula. I wouldn't mind so much if she woke up, but my husband hasn't slept in 2 days because he has been up all night with her and is a very light sleeper. I want him to get some sleep before she wakes up for the night.
I would change soon because a newborn with a diaper rash is a huge PITA. I'm sorry. It is SO hard when you are sleep deprived and emotionally exhausted and your baby is fucking finally asleep. Man. I wouldn't blame you for waiting a little bit, it just might bite you in the ass.
I'd leave the baby sleeping, but my kids are not prone to rashes. My kids are not the kind to sleep through a diaper change or go back down quickly. We hard core subscribe to the "never wake a sleeping baby" school of thought.

10 days? Let her sleep and change at the next wake up, they sleep and wake so much that it's no biggie. I also subscribe to the never wake a sleeping baby camp. Both mine would wake up cranky and be harder to get down later.
I always slathered Vaseline or Aquaphor on her bottom in case she did poop while sleeping. The barrier eased my mind about her not getting a rash.
A tip on the sleeping if you'd rather her sleep at night than during the day- our pedi told us to "mess" with DD hourly while sleeping during the day. So we would tickle her feet and it kept her from getting into a deep sleep during the day. She slept much better at night once we started doing that.

I never knew when my newborn pooped so she slept with many poopy diapers. I think you're ok to let her sleep. Now however, no dice. My kid gets rashy quick-it just didn't happen with baby poop luckily.
