I keep saying that as soon as my children are old enough, we are going to have a serious talk about EVER taking these kinds of photos, and especially not keeping them on their phones.
I am struggling to give a good goddam about these people. We can talk all day long about how they shouldn't have to worry about their phones being hacked and privacy rights blah blah blah, but we've seen this happen too many times to pretend to be shocked. Right or wrong, there are certain trade-offs to being a celeb, and one is that your privacy situation must be handled differently. Take precautionary measures, such as, you know, not storing nude selfies on their phones.
Yeah, given this has happened before, you'd think they'd just avoid it altogether. I'm surprised that, according to the story, the only pics that were real were JLaw's, since she's the biggest star out of that bunch IMO and I feel like these nekkid hack things only happen to folks who need a career boost in some way.
But as the saying goes, play stupid games, win stupid prizes. I bet they won't do it again.
I'm inclined to believe JLaw is merely the only one who will cop to them being real.
I bet they feature Ariana Grande's right side and you know she thinks it doesn't exist lol

off topic the big question is -- how do I get my photos in iCloud? I mean they are there, clearly, because the phone is backed up as a whole and all my pictures go to all my Apple devices via iCloud, but there is no place on iCloud to go and view my photos. I want that to happen.
I would also love to be able to delete photos from my phone and still have them other places, without deleting them from all my iCloud connected devices.
Well, and by saying the photos are real, JLaw can fight the people posting them, so it benefits her to cop to them and then be able to sue the people who posted them. The people saying they are fakes have no recourse. The buzzfeed link says that people have been prosecuted in similar situations.
But still... why do people do shit like this? I don't get it.
You know, non-digital photography still exists. If you really must must must have nude pics of yourself, it's technically possible to take them w/o any files lingering on any devices.

This is where I am, which according to everything I've seen retweeted on Twitter means I'm a horrible, heartless person. But seriously, hacking/stealing info from celebs is not new people! Wise up!
Hold up. Just because these folks are celebs, it's suddenly no big deal that somebody STOLE THEIR PRIVATE PROPERTY and put it out there for everybody to see? Seriously? What the fuck, guys?
Honestly- google cyber security. The prevailing wisdom is that everyone's stuff WILL BE HACKED. It's not a matter of if but when and what you plan to do to recover from it. Many things can be corrected or replaced but luckily, not everything HAS to be stored online or on a mobile device.

No, I think it's just that they're "in the arena" and shouldn't have been so stupid. This is about 80 millionth on my "give a shit" list. Nah, much lower than that. I didn't care about the Bling Ring, either. If Paris Hilton's stupid enough to put her mansion key in a rock by her property...
Maybe it's karma for the one real star in the bunch for banging a married man? Maybe if she's upset about thievery she should give Chastain or Riva the Oscar she stole. (just kidding on that last point---it's the Academy that voted)
So because this particular hack was aimed at celebrities using iCloud rather than Jane Smith we are cool with just saying "well you should be using Polaroids" and leaving it at that?
Look I get it. There's a level of risk involved here. But the reaction here is not what I expected at all.

I don't think it's ok. I DO think that it's not surprising. It's wrong. It's a terrible violation. I hope that the criminal responsible is brought to justice. I also know that I won't let nude photos of myself be taken with my phone because I"m worried I could be hacked, and there isn't even anyone who would want to hack me! I don't think it's the fault of the celebrities, but I do think that anyone who is famous should realize that this could happen to them and stick to Polaroids.
Wait, we're mad at Jlaw for dating a man who is separated from his wife? I'm made at her for dating a whiny bitch but not because he's on his way to getting a divorce. I don't think those women are brainless either.
I'm just amazed that people who mitigate the higher risks of their careers in other ways continue to not do the same with things like this.
And as I said in the other thread, that hacking trial in London wasn't that long ago, if it's even managed to be resolved. It also wasn't that long ago that Blake Lively and a host of others were hacked outside of that London business. So do I think it's offensive, that whoever did it should be found an prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law? Absofuckinglutely, the disgusting pigs.
But am I surprised? No. Not at all. Just like I'm not surprised when yet another wack job tries to climb a celebrity's fence, when the paps try to get shots of a celeb's wedding, when TMZ digs through someone's trash.

Uh huh, yeah, I get that. However I am kind of grossed out at the "sucks that happened but stupid people do stupid things." The blame isn't on the person who was stole from, it's on the damn thief.
And the number of folks on here who get up in arms about women's rights and being able to own your sexuality and this shit happens and because they entertain us in movies suddenly they don't count anymore?
In no way am I saying that they deserved it or blaming them.
I stand by it. my first thought was that it was probably leaked on purpose to aid careers, to be honest, kinda like Kardashian's sex tape.
What I find funny is that everybody always says, "play stupid games, win stupid prizes" on this board, but when someone actually says that these celebs were stupid, all of a sudden it's scandalous. I didn't know that thinking Ariana Grande, Kate Upton, and Jennifer Lawrence weren't the sharpest tools in the shed was controversial.
Sorry, I'll be going. Forgive me that I intruded on the circle jerk.

Oh, please. Get over yourself. Half the people in this thread agree with you.
It's not a question of "play stupid games". It's a question of someone hacking into people's private files. Yes, even celebrities should have a reasonable expectation of privacy.
