I often have "to do lists" for a month, which are the larger tasks I need to accomplish. A lot of mine right now are obviously baby related. I thought I'd start a post asking what's on your to do list for the month?
Here's mine:
*Clean out the room that will be the nursery *Make a list of daycares to visit in October *Register *Pick out the big pieces for the nursery and order them: Crib, dresser, closet organizing system, glider/chair *Come up with a plan for the cat litter boxes (this is an issue because the boxes were always in our spare bedroom - which is now the nursery!) *Schedule hospital tour, birthing classes, and other classes I need/want to take
--Finish first tri. --Once that is complete, start clearing out the office/junk room that will be the baby's room. --Make a good impression at work (a few huge projects are coming up and we have a new boss). --Go to Wisconsin for one last summery weekend. --Start doing the Fresh 20 again to be more nutritious and eat out less.

@sessalee we have to figure out our litter boxes too! They are in the closet of the spare bedroom and that's really the only decent place for them I'm almost considering just keeping baby in our room until we find a new place when our lease is up again (won't be for another year, baby would be around 6 months). But do I really want to do that when we will both be working? I wish this place had a better layout!
Things on my list: -Possibly start a registry with some of the big items. We looked at car seats and strollers today so that kind of stuff we can register for (we want neutral ones anyways so we can use them in the future). -Decide on classes and look into scheduling them in advance. -Not let my anxiety get the best of me!
Ok, it's a short list, but there isn't a ton we need to do right now. We find out the sex in just over a month and I think buying things and planning will go into overdrive then
- Paint the nursery. - Pick out window treatments and have installed. - Find rug/carpet for nursery. - Get replacement piece for crib (damaged). - Increase life insurance. - Talk to HR about maternity leave and finalize plans. - Schedule birth class, possibly baby care class. - Finalize shower guest list.
@estrellia yeah, we own the home, so it's an anticipated issue but it's definitely a big one. I may just have to put them in the guest room and beg forgiveness of the guests.

@sessalee & estrellita - Oh the wonderful litter box conundrum. We are currently in progress with a laundry room renovation which includes enclosing the laundry area in the basement. Once that is done, we can put in cat doors (can't leave doors open because the dog will get to the boxes and eat the turds :?) and then the boxes can move downstairs. We have guests use the guest bedroom all the time so we absolutely cannot put them in there. I wish we had a mudroom or something. Gah!
As for my September to-do:
- finish laundry room reno - move all craft room items to basement/set up craft nook down there (hahaha, good luck rachelgreen) - sand/refinish nursery hardwoods - decide on a paint color and paint nursery (also need to paint the guest bedroom) - put up nursery closet organizer - order crib and dresser - possibly have windows replaced in nursery
Basically I have an insane amount of things to do for the bunny's room.

rachelgreen I'd love to have a laundry room to put them in! I understand the difficulty with the dog though. We could put the litter boxes in our "dining room" area (we eat in the living room.. bad habit I'm sure, haha) but we'd smell it all the time and when the baby starts crawling we wouldn't want it out here. Cats just make things so difficult sometimes! I'd put them in the bathroom attached to the spare bedroom but it's not connected to anything else, so the cats would still get into baby's room. I don't know how to keep the cats away from baby when we would start leaving it in there at night. The way it is now our door will be scratched down when we start locking them out of our room! They're lucky they're cute most of the time

Litter boxes are a pain, we have a laundry room, but in the past we had it in an unused bathtub/shower in the guest bath. It worked well and was easy to clean up.
Just an alternative idea if you have a rarely used bathroom.

So we have 3 bathrooms - 2 master suites (bedroom + bathroom, one is ours the other is the guest suite) plus a hallway bathroom. My argument is to put them in the guest bathroom and guests can either deal or we'll move them to the hallway bathroom when we have people staying for a few days. The hallway bathroom is small and only has room for 1, and we need at least 2.
Its a busy month though as we have our baptism class, hospital tour, and two showers. Nursery is done so when I have the showers I'll just be putting everything away. I also have an ultrasound the 10th and can't wait!
Also will be doing maternity pics but a friend is doing them. They'll be toward end of the month I think so I can be a little bigger.

How often do you have guests that use that bathroom? It's nice to have them out of the way and if you only have overnight guests rarely you could just move them to the hall for those few days.

I have 3 cays so I totally sympathize.
Right now 2-3x/year. Post-baby, likely more often but they're grandparents and they can deal with the grandkitties IMO. We also have 3

September is my last month of pretending like there aren't a million baby things that will need to be figured out.
My goals for this month: 1. Take care of as many work things as I can 2. Figure what sort of body and chair pillows I need and acquire those 3. Carry all the crap I have ready to go to the basement to the basement
I should find out sex around Oct 1, so I'll start nursery and registry in October.

I have 3 too! GoP crazy cat lady convention!!
Cats do that, they know cat people and find you! I had two litter mates for years and then we found a mama cat that weighed less than 2 lbs on the verge of starving with 4 tiny kittens under my friends house, my friend took her and the kittens in for 3 months then found homes for the kittens. That 2 lb mama cat now weighs 10 lbs and pretty much runs my household.
I love kitties, I hope they react ok to their new brother!

Awww I am glad you have the mamma kitty a home. So many people don't take adult cats!
We have an old man cat he's 12, and two 'kittens' that are a year old. They are brothers, born feral and scared of everything. They've gotten more and more brave over the last year we have had them. We adopted them from the woman who found them, and she kept their mamma so we know she's in great hands, otherwise we might have taken her too. They are all male and the old man cat even plays with them now, when he's not feeling sick (arthritis and liver disease so he has his days).
I love them and also hope they adjust well to their new sister!
Start my kitchen renovation 1. Clean out basement kitchen& set it up to be able to feed 5 ppl (my uncle and parents are coming to help) 2. Empty kitchen, living room and dinning room ( we are taking out a wall and replacing the flooring in all 3 rooms plus a coat of paint) 3. Start demo 4. Hopefully by the end of the month we have the cabinets in and electrical done.
Non kitchen related anatomy scan tomorrow and try to stay sane while 1/2 my house is a mess.

Last full month before Baby Month so there's only a few things left but they're important!
- install infant car seat bases in our cars - pack hospital bag for me and DH and an emergency bag for DS in case he ends up being cared for at a random friend's house while I'm in labor - make meals to freeze - set up bassinet in our room - wash/sanitize bottles and pump parts

Finish our current home rennovation project, which revolves around removing the walls along the stairs, and hardwood floors installed in all 4 bedrooms, the upstairs hall, and the stairs. Plus painting most of those rooms, and electrical work in the rooms below, while we have access. Plus some structural work that we could probably put off 10 years... But would have to remove the hardwood floors to do at that point.
We have one weekend left before we go out of town for a conference, and we want the floors to get done while we are gone (have to vacate the house for a few days due to the chemicals). We worked like dogs this weekend, but still fell behind on our timeline.
1. Hang up wall art in the nursery once it comes in 2. Finish hospital pre-registration paperwork 3. Finalize plans for maternity leave - I'm meeting with our LOA administrator and my boss today! 4. Attend hospital birth/ infant care/ breastfeeding class 5. Keep up with thank you notes and putting away baby gifts - our shower is next month but gifts have started coming in. 6. Have carpets cleaned
Ugh, the litterbox crisis. My cats are picky and right now we have three boxes for two cats. We have one of them, plus the food and water fountain in the smaller guest room, which is about to be the only guest room, so they need to be kicked out. We don't know where to relocate all that stuff.
My September list is overwhelming -clear out nursery -paint nursery -assemble crib -pick up glider -order crib bedding -order nursery artwork -order nursery window treatments -obtain futon for new playroom (former man cave) -clear out second guest room/cat room in order to relocate guest stuff from current "good" guest room -start washing/organizing hand me downs
