M: rest T: 9 w/ 2 at goal pace W: 7 miles Th: rest F: 3 miles Sa: HALF MARATHON Su: 5 miles
Vents/Issues: Highs in the 90's this week, including race day (and an 8:30 start). I adjusted my goal by a couple minutes, but I'm still nervous about getting sick or failing miserably. This is my last chance at a flat half for a couple months so I'm sulking a little.
Highlights: I ended up averaging 250/month for June, July, and August. I'm happy that most of the Summer was mild, and I was able to get lots of running in with 3 kids home all Summer.
Bonus: H&F: 10 oz handheld water bottle. I use my 20 oz usually, but wanted a smaller one for races. Non H&F: I went grocery shopping last night. Exciting stuff, lol.

Highlights or AW's from the past week? I ran a 10 mile race on Saturday and beat my A goal of 1:40. And my Achilles' tendon isn't hurting from doing so.

Highlights or AW's from the past week?
Bonus: What is the last thing you bought H&F related? Non H&F related? We went to this international grocery store yesterday and bought all kinds of crazy food. Any issues or vents? I swear my body hates me! Every long run seems to aggrivate some random tendon that has never caused me problems before! This week it is a weird one on the back of my knee toward the inside. I can't seem to stretch it out, foam roll it out or massage it out with my stick...it just hurts. I couldn't do my last 1600 this morning because I was basically hobbling instead of running, so I cut it short before I really injure myself. I don't know how I'm going to make it 26.2 miles if I keep getting these random pains/injuries.
Highlights or AW's from the past week? Despite the heat, humidity and tendon issues, I ran 20 freakin' miles on Sunday. I still can't really believe it...it's starting to sink in that I'm really going to run a marathon!
Bonus: What is the last thing you bought H&F related? Non H&F related? H&F: Does new protein powder count? I picked some of that up this weekend. Before that, it was a pair of Injinji toe socks - I'm a toe sock convert now! Any issues or vents? I had a little stomach bug yesterday and am wiped out from it. I should be able to do my training if I wait until the afternoon though.
Highlights or AW's from the past week? New running milestone: 18 minutes non-stop. This was a huge deal for me. Before I started my tri training, I had never run for more than 2 or 3 minutes without stopping.
Bonus: What is the last thing you bought H&F related? Non H&F related? New running socks that match my neon pink Nikes. Groceries and new car seat for DD. Nothing exciting.
buffaloeggs.blogspot.com 2016 Races: Hop Hop Half Marathon 2:05:09 Pac Crest Half Ironman 7:13:40 9/10 Aluminum Man Oly Tri 11/27 Space Coast Half Marathon
I had to do my long run this morning due to family obligations this weekend. Now to jump in the shower and go to work. I bought some nuun off amazon last week. When I went to target yesterday I forgot the toilet paper but I did manage to come home with ice cream and season 3 of breaking bad... Whoops!
Training for: Wineglass Half 10/5/14 This week: Mon- rest Tues- strength Wed- 5 miles Th- 3 miles/strength Friday- 3 miles Saturday- rest Sunday- 10 miles

What are you training for? Date? Colorado Fall Classic, 9/14
Training schedule for the week? Tu: 5 mi easy w/strides; W: 5 mi tempo; Th: 5 mi easy; Sa: 12 mi
Any issues or vents? You mean other than the taper crazy that is already setting in?
Highlights or AW's from the past week? Winning my age group at the Disneyland 10k. I had NO expectations for such a thing to happen. I was just running for a hard effort and to have fun. I was so proud of myself when I finished for fighting some negative talk and for really pushing myself the last mile when I could have just backed off and been fine. I also was super controlled in the half on Sunday and I felt fantastic. I decided to just go at mile 12, but controlled go, and that mile was my fastest of the weekend at 7:12 and it felt awesome. Just a great weekend.
Bonus: What is the last thing you bought H&F related? Non H&F related? H&F, a new to me Garmin; non H&F, a bunch of Disney stuff, including an Elsa dress for DD3's birthday present.

Any issues or vents? I'd like to put in a request for a 30 hour day and also for my shoes to be on clearance because I need new ones and don't want to pay full price.
Highlights or AW's from the past week? hmm. . . I took monday off of work and it was glorious.
Bonus: What is the last thing you bought H&F related? Non H&F related? H&F related: nuun and body glide, non H&F related: summer dresses from old navy
Training for: Wineglass Half 10/5/14 This week: Mon- rest Tues- strength Wed- 5 miles Th- 3 miles/strength Friday- 3 miles Saturday- rest Sunday- 10 miles

Highlights- survived Sunday's 9 miler alone, headphone free and in horrid (for me) humidity
Bonus: H&F purchases- 3 Athleta Chi tanks (yay for sale and extra 20% off) Non H&F- Trader Joe's run
Tell me of these chi tanks. Are they super lightweight (like you feel like you're wearing nothing) and wicking?
They're wicking and super comfy, but not xtra lightweight like wearing nothing. I bought the Chi Ombre tank in the store, and then ordered 2 others online. I really like the cut and the fit, and they're slightly longer in back. They even make a long style, which I'll try in the future. Here's the one I bought: athleta.gap.com/browse/search.do?searchText=chi+ombre

Any issues or vents?
Nothing major. This crazy heat killed me yesterday.
Highlights or AW's from the past week?
I rocked my 14 mile long run this weekend. I was starting to get anxious about the metric marathon, so I wanted to at least get close in mileage. I felt fantastic after the run and it was extra fun because I ran with 2 people that I just met at the 8 mile water stop. It was a definite mental victory.
Bonus: What is the last thing you bought H&F related? Non H&F related?
H&FR: A few tanks at the Nike Outlet clearance.
NH&FR: I just paid the balance for the catering for my H's birthday party. So I bought some meat?
What are you training for? Date? My first 5k, the Susan g Komen race 10/12

What are you training for? Date? Half marathon on 10/19.
Training schedule for the week? 4 miles yesterday, 2 miles tonight, 4 miles on Thursday. Supposed to have 9 miles on Saturday but we're going to an amusement park all day so I might push that back to Sunday instead.
Any issues or vents? My 4 miler was awful yesterday. Just the heat and humidity, and I forgot my water bottle and there was only one station on the route. It was a rough one for me.
Highlights or AW's from the past week? I guess that I made it through yesterday and managed to stay in my finish time goal window.
Bonus: What is the last thing you bought H&F related? Non H&F related? Um...I think my handheld water bottle was my last H&F related purchase. Non-H&F was a board game and a Hot Wheels motorcycle for my son.
What are you training for? Date? St.Jude Memphis 1/2 Marathon--12/6/14
Training schedule for the week? Was supposed to do 3 miles yesterday, but moved those to today b/c of traveling. 4 tomorrow, 3 Thursday, 6 Saturday.
Any issues or vents? I skipped way too many runs in August. We're officially 3 months from race day--time to buckle down.
Highlights or AW's from the past week? Um, I finally found a pair of shorts that I can run in with no chafing problems!
Bonus: What is the last thing you bought H&F related? Non H&F related? H&F--New pair of UA shorts (on sale at Academy!). Non H&F--a ton of fall clothes. I want to start wearing them but it is still too damn hot.
Tell me of these chi tanks. Are they super lightweight (like you feel like you're wearing nothing) and wicking?
They're wicking and super comfy, but not xtra lightweight like wearing nothing. I bought the Chi Ombre tank in the store, and then ordered 2 others online. I'm going to join you guys! Hopefully I'll have time to really participate though..
What are you training for? Date? Tour de Gruene 47 miles 11/8, I'm not too worried about the distance, but would love to get my speed up. DH and I are riding with BIL and his GF who ride all the time in Colorado (I'm in flat TX) so I'll definitely be the slow one of the group.
Training schedule for the week? Rode 20 miles yesterday and plan ride either 14 or 17 Wednesday and hopefully 1 ride this weekend (by myself) not sure how far yet.
Any issues or vents? DH adjusted my derailleur last night before our ride and now it's not shifting correctly. He'll be messing with it tonight to hopefully get it back where it needs to be. Vent, I love my step kids, but because of scheduling issues, we only have 1 weekend to get in a good long ride before the ride in November and that is next weekend (9/13).
Highlights or AW's from the past week? I rode 14 miles on Saturday and had an average speed of 15.5 mph which is the best ride I've had in over a year! I'm usually more around 13.5-14 mph.
Bonus: What is the last thing you bought H&F related? Non H&F related? H&F related, Garmin Edge 500 - upgraded from the 200 to include HRM and I love it! Non H&F related, Before My Heart Stops: A Memoir by Paul Cardall, it's about a musician that was born with heart issues and wasn't expected to make it, but did. Sounds like a wonderful inspiring story and his music is beautiful.
What are you training for? Date? 10K on Sept 18 Possible 1/2 in October
Training schedule for the week? Monday - off/work Tues - 6 miles w/ 800 m repeats Wed - Sunday TBD; hopefully a tempo, an easy run, and a longer run this weekend. I might do a 5K Friday night.
Any issues or vents? I've slept in instead of running a few times lately, which is just obnoxious. Hard to know if I'm really THAT tired, or I'm just being lazy. My lower back is also super tight and sore lately.
Highlights or AW's from the past week? The weather is cooling down nicely in the morning! On Saturday I did an 8 mile with 5 miles at almost 10K pace, and I felt pretty okay.
Bonus: What is the last thing you bought H&F related? Non H&F related? Two new pairs of Brooks Ghost 7. $$ Ouch! But I am really liking them and feeling good on my runs.
Non-H&F; probably groceries and dog food. I also finally bought vitamins because my doc said I should be taking something with Folic Acid & Vitamin D. Hopefully I'll actually stick with it this time. (Though I wonder about the D because I eat lots of dairy & I work outside.)
Sigh, I had a hissy fit this weekend about having time to myself and registered for the Philly half in a fit of rage, so I guess here I am.
What are you training for? Date? Philadelphia Half Marathon 11/23
Training schedule for the week? M - 6 miles T - rest plus 2 miles jogging with kiddo's x-country try team W - upper body weight, 4 miles, plus 1.2 miles jogging with kiddo's x-country try team (hills) Th - lower body weights plus 2 miles jogging with kiddo's x-country try team F - 4 miles, upper body Sat - lower body weights Sun - 7 miles
Any issues or vents? This is "lull week" between sessions at the Y so my schedule is all wonky without my cross training. Also, ew summer.
Highlights or AW's from the past week? Nothing this week!
Bonus: What is the last thing you bought H&F related? Non H&F related? H&F - I got some new running gloves. Can't wait to have to use them! Non H&F - School supplies, boring
What are you training for? Date? Nike Womens Half in SF 10/19 Local Trail Challenge Half 11/9
Training schedule for the week? M: Should have been rest, but camping schedule forced me to move my long run to monday, so 8miles T: 4miles - but I scratched it and did 40 min on a bike + 40 min strength instead W: 40min tempo R: 3 miles + Strength F: Rest S: 3 miles race pace S: 8 miles
Any issues or vents? My knee is really cranky right now. Not sure if it's all the hiking I've piled onto my training schedule or not, but man it's cranky. We were camping this weekend and thought our 3 year old could handle a 5 mile hike to this lake we wanted to picnic at, but we were wrong about two things: 1 she was not up for the hike and 2: it was more than 5 miles. I wound up carrying her in my arms (no backpack or other carrier) for 4 or 5 of what turned out to be a 6 mile hike. There was a significant downhill on the way back, and she was passed out sleeping in my arms, so she felt like a 35lb sack of potatoes. That could have been what made my knee angry.
I might have to pull out my knee brace again. I scratched today's 4 mile recovery run and opted for the bike instead to give it a rest. I'll have to see how it feels after today and figure out what to do with my temp run and the rest of the week.
Highlights or AW's from the past week?
I got to do two trail runs in Yosemite during our weekend camping trip. Good god that place is incredible. We were all the way up in Tuolumne Meadows (about 9000ft elevation), so the running was significantly more challenging than my usual close-to-sea level running. But holy cow, what a gift to get 8 miles in the peaceful early morning on the trail up there.
Bonus: What is the last thing you bought H&F related? Non H&F related? H&F: A new water bottle with a hand strap. I left my old one at an airport. Non H&F: Back to school stuff for the kids

What are you training for? Date?
11/30 Space Coast Half, 2/22 Gasparilla Half, 5/10 Tinkerbell half, with some 5K's, 10K's and a quarter marathon thrown in.
Training schedule for the week?
Well, training started yesterday, but it started without me. Still having shin splint and heel problems, and I'm not even allowed to power walk or elliptical right now. I've got another appointment this afternoon, and I'm hoping I'm cleared to at least walk.
M: Easy 35 min T: lifting W: Easy 35 min Th: off Fri: XT S: 5 mi Su: Lift
Any issues or vents?
Um, yeah. I can't run. Again. The shin splint is related to my hip which all stems from my back. The fusion doesn't allow for almost any of the planes of movement. I haven't run in 3 weeks and was originally told I could start training power walking instead of running, but after my appointment Thursday that went to complete rest all weekend. I am losing. my. mind. I would love to have just one race where I was well-trained and uninjured.
Highlights or AW's from the past week?
Resistance band stretching has made me very bendy.
Bonus: What is the last thing you bought H&F related? Non H&F related?
H&F: do chiro co-pays count? Oh, a resistance band, and some cheap Brooks that I can't use.
Non H&F: I bought a few Dept. 56 christmas village pieces from a local store who is going out of business. Not running is worse for my credit card than running is.
What are you training for? Date? Air Force 5k and Marathon 9/19 & 9/20
Training schedule for the week? M - rest T - 5 miles W - rest or make up my monday run I missed Th - 4 miles F - 16 miles S - 6 miles S - rest
Any issues or vents? My body is feeling the effects of training for 2 marathons over the past 6 months. I'm looking forward to slowing down some after this race.
Highlights or AW's from the past week? I made it over the hump of training. Its taper time
Bonus: What is the last thing you bought H&F related? Non H&F related? H&F - New Ipod and a couple running shirts Non H&F - BBW candles

What are you training for? Date? Chicago marathon 10/12
Training schedule for the week? M: 7 mile tempo (5@ 10k pace) T: 4 mile hill run W: strength Th: rest F: 16 miles S: warrior dash Su: strength
Any issues or vents? I discovered 2 black toenails under my nail polish. Wtf? I thought shoes have a wide toe box. I'm equal parts disgusted and fascinated. I sent a pic to my sister, and she was not amused.
Highlights or AW's from the past week? None Bonus: What is the last thing you bought H&F related? Non H&F related? H&F related: Some Nike compression shorts. NH&F related: a sheath dress, booties, and work pants.
Okay, all y'all that are liking the fact that I'm sick and probably have to bag my runs this week?
The likes are for everything but that. If you need to rest, rest. Its better to give yourself time to get better and not hit this week mileage, so you can rock next weeks mileage! Feel better!
