I have a Galaxy s4 and I still can't make calls inside my house. Did you do anything special to set it up to make calls using wireless internet?
To answer the poll, no iPhone here. I have never owned an Apple product and neither has my H.
No I didn't have to do anything special. I entered our wifi's password and made sure that it is connected and that's it. It is so nice to be able to make and receive calls in the house.
Do you have T-Mobile? I just did some research and it looks like it depends on your wireless service provider. This definitely doesn't work for me- I have Verizon. Maybe I need to switch!

I have a Samsung Galaxy S4. Because of the shitty reception inside my house, I needed a phone that can make calls using wireless internet. Iphones do not have that capability so Samsung it is.
Given the choice, I would prefer an iPhone.
I'm sure the galaxy offers a great option for calling over wireless, but you could download skype on an iPhone a pay something like $30 a year for unlimited North America calling. I had the skype plan before I had an iPhone, but this is how I talk to my parents in the US. Bonus because I'm not limited to my cell phone and can call them from my computer and iPad as well.
I have two, one for work and a personal one. I've had two different jobs issue me iPhones, I was pretty surprised as I was used to work Blackberries. I do not work in a particularly tech savvy field.

I have to figure out how to do this. We have terrible service in our house and just sit in certain places to try to talk on the phone. I need to figure this out!!
I have T-Mobile. I have zero idea if this will work, but this is what I do.

I hope this works. I bought this phone primarily for wifi calling!

I'd check into T-Mobile. I was complaining to a friend about the crappy reception in our house and she told me about using wifi for calling. It works for her, although I don't know if she has T-Mobile. I love it. My DH a new iPhone and uses my phone in the house.

Thanks for this. I checked and I don't have the wifi calling feature. I will definitely be discussing with H to see if we want to switch to T-Mobile!
I just got a call from my IT department saying our London office is 99.9% iPhones, whereas in the States we are a mix of iPhone and Android. I now have to choose whether to be one of two people in the office with a Samsung and have limited support or go to an iPhone. Bah.
That's weird. And a pain in the tushy. Bah is right!
Was thinking about this a little more on the plane this morning. Having one would cost me around 400-600 more (per phone) and I think could also require over 1k more in service fees than I pay annually with my super basic plans. That is 2 nice pairs of shoes or a few weeks less of work. I just cant do it!
Samsung Note 3 (before that a Samsung S4). And everyone I know with an iPhone oohed and ahhed over the size of the screen of both phones.
If I hadn't gotten an iPod for Christmas a couple of years ago, I wouldn't own any iCrap.
Every time I see a person with one of the big Samsung phones, I over the "Why would someone want to carry a tablet with them everywhere? How on earth does that thing fit in a pocket or a clutch?" (Needless to say, I will not be jumping at the large iPhone 6 if it turns out to be a real thing).
I love the humongous screen. Once you get it, you'll never want to go back. I got it when it first came out and a lot of people (lots of random people actually) made the same comment to me until I showed them that it fits into my tight jeans tiny pockets. Then they were all excited for it. I had a pilot stop me at an airport once and asked to try it in all his pockets lol. My brother was the biggest skeptic, but he couldn't resist getting his own after playing with mine. He won't go back now.
I had a Droid X for 4.5 years and absolutely loved it. Then I dropped it and it started having issues. I needed the big screen for work because I connect to our home computer a lot when we're out. There is no way, even if I didn't need it for work, could I go back to that small screen.

I am required to carry a smartphone either way for work, but the smartphone features and apps add so much value to my life that I'd definitely prefer an iPhone over a few pairs of shoes. No question.
At one point, pretty much everyone in my office ended up with an iPhone. I might have been one of the last hold outs. One coworker had one at one point and hated it, so went back to Android.
I might get a Samsung Galaxy in a few months, though. I do know one or two people who have those.
I have an iphone 5S, but DH has the HTC One. I know a number of people under the age of 50 that have android smart phones. I'm not one of those "apple people" (you know what I mean) but I do really like the iphone. This is my 2nd. I've had android smart phones in the past, and they get very slow and buggy right about the one year mark. We are on a 20 month upgrade cycle, and I am curious to see if DH wants to throw his phone against the wall by then.
