2009. I had one number from 2000 until 2007 I moved to a new area and had trouble finding a job so I thought having a local number might help. We moved back in 2009 and I was pissed because I got the "new" area code (like the Seinfeld episode). I'm never changing it again.

2007. Switched plans when I got married and had two for a month. DH had an extra line on his so I swapped to that number and my mom got my line on my parents plan (I paid my bill). She still has that number, which I got in 2000 when my dad swapped their old line for 2.
2009, when we moved to Missouri. I had a ton of numbers before that, since before that my cells came with my jobs and I moved states every year or two.
Um...almost a year? Maybe right around that? Our company recently decided to stop paying for cell phones (now they instead give you $20 toward your monthly bill...ha!), so I changed my number, since the previous number was associated with our address book.
I think this is my fourth number since getting a cell phone in the 90's. I had one in SC, one when I moved to MO, then changed my MO number twice for situations like that listed above. Yes, i would rather inconvenience myself by changing my number than keep a number that might be used for work when work won't pay for the phone. Frankly, my nights and weekends are worth more than that.
Since senior year of high school, 2004. My cell phone area code is hundreds of miles away from where I live now, but I have no intention of changing the number. I'd lose touch with too many people.

FYI- for those who change it because they move and want a local number, you can just get a google voice number (you can choose the area code) and then forward it so it rings right to your cell phone. Keep your number AND get a local number, WALLA!
I had the same number from 2002 (when I got my first phone) to last year. When I got divorced I kept XH's phone because it was newer and he wanted out of our plan, so I took his number, too, because it's nicer. Easier to remember, more of a pattern.
