DH's phone number is from 1987. That is NOT a typo. It was a car phone:
(I think it was a brick like above not the super fancy type that was integrated into the console.)
Then his mom had the # for her cell, then DH got the # from his parents. He's been with "AT&T" since 1987. The stuff that is grandfathered in to his plan is so damn old.
Their customer service sucks so bad we're contemplating jumping ship and heading to T-mobile or some other carrier for a better price. 2 iPhone WITH a corp discount is $130 a month. ^o)

since 2000/2001 - ish. I moved to a different state and back then, there was still roaming charges. So I had to switch to a local number so I didn't have roaming.
ETA: I moved states again in 2006 and I never changed it. No need to now since it doesn't really matter cost wise for anyone to call me at a different area code.

I had the same number from 2001 to 2014 when I moved overseas. I REALLY wanted to keep my number, but it didn't make sense since we couldn't keep a US carrier.
FYI- for those who change it because they move and want a local number, you can just get a google voice number (you can choose the area code) and then forward it so it rings right to your cell phone. Keep your number AND get a local number, WALLA!
Thanks for the tip! I recently moved to another state and really don't want to change my # because I've had it forever. But like other posters mentioned, I'm afraid it's affecting my job prospects

It works SO well! I do property managment and we have a family property in VT (I'm in MN) and I have a VT number for my work there.

Since 2005. Would have kept the number I had from 2001-2005, but the coverage for where we were moving sucked with that company at the time. I've kept my current number through 3 moves (including out of state), and hope to not have to change it.

2009. I have never lived in the area for the area code I have either. H got his in college, and when I came down we just added me on to his, so I have the same area code.
About two years after I got it, I'd get random calls from this old lady demanding to speak to her granddaughter. I always missed the calls, so I'd just have these voicemails. This went on for like another year and a half. Once I actually picked up, told her it was the wrong number, and she started yelling at me, insisting that this was the right number and that she was going to keep calling until she got to talk to Miranda. No wonder she didn't tell you she changed her number!
I've had my google voice number since 2012 when I moved to the US. My actual phone number is T mobile number that I got last year. We move around a lot, so numbers keep changing.
Since 2000. It's Chicago. Then we lived in New Jersey. Now we live in Maine. It's kind of a pain here where everyone assumes you have Maine's one area code, but I think I'd miss my 312 too much.
