A friend recently compared my parenting skills and my children against a few of our other friends and their kids. Sometimes, people need to keep their opinions to themselves, especially regarding topics on which they have little or no experience. Ugh. The slow fade has begun...
The Pre-K bus dropped off my 4 year old at the wrong stop this morning. A mile from home. Despite her bus stop taped in florescent duct tape to her bag and 2 phone calls from me this morning to make sure they get shit right.
Can we talk about this? Because I would be burning shit down. Also, when a 4yr old is "dropped off" does that mean without checking to see if there is a parent there to pick them up?
HOW DOES THIS FUCKING HAPPEN? I NEED TO KNOW.
Signed,
Parent of a 4yr old that is WTFing your school right now.
I live in a super shitty school district full of admin people that don't care. Somehow our address was auto-updated Friday for no reason and it generated an email to me saying my daughter was going to be dropped off at a different location. I wrote back immediately and said no, that is wrong. I left a voicemail. This morning we taped florescent tape on her backpack saying her correct stop (which is the same since the first day of school), and I also called and talked to her teacher TWICE this morning. I was assured they would walk her to the bus and talk to the driver directly. Well, they obviously didn't. Luckily another parent there recognized her and took her to be with my daycare provider (who was waiting at the correct stop). I live in one of the worst school districts in the US. We live on a military base (required), so I'm counting the days until we move next year.

Our school bussing was a cluster last year (kindergarten). DS's BFF was taken on the wrong bus home instead of daycare but they didn't let him off the bus and took him back to daycare later (but he was so upset his mom had to go get him). I did the same thing with phone calls, tape, etc last year because after the mess they said all kids would be dropped off at the homes, which DS goes to daycare instead (the Y, with 40+ other kids).
I can't believe they don't make sure an adult picks up young students, or maybe be other mom counted? Our school was so damn breezy about the bus situation, when kids were going on a different letter bus every ride.
H woke me up an hour early from my nap because the car place called saying his car was ready to be picked up. Dude. I've been up since 5am. Your car would have been there an hour later so you could have let me sleep. I was so confused I didn't even have a chance to protest. I'm cranky now.
I love my schedule at this job, but don't like the people I work with.
I am working at my old job tomorrow through Saturday because they're going to be very busy with a tournament and asked me to come back for it. I was there for a couple hours on Sunday just getting some info about the upcoming events and then my old boss wanted to take me out to look at some new stuff. I really want them to hire me back, but know it's highly unlikely. I'm feeling sad about it even though my schedule here is so much better.
I just called to schedule my follow up appointment after delivery. Dr said to schedule it for 4-5 weeks postpartum, I explain this to the receptionist and she's all "Yeah, we don't have a single opening until October 22nd." Um, that's 8 weeks after delivery. I'm not waiting 8 weeks for someone to make sure I'm healing from my year correctly and clear me for stuff. And really? EVERYTHING is booked for 2 whole months? C'mon.
I plan on calling back and seeing if I can talk to someone else. There's a reason my dr said 4-5 weeks and not 8. Psh.
What's bugging you?
That happened to me with my last one. I think they schedule it like a regular appointment and don't care if its later than they suggested. They want to keep dates open for emergencies and the weekly appointments for others, etc etc. I didn't get in until about 8 weeks. I was pissed. My H was more pissed lol.
My H has to sleep with a fan blowing on him. It has been a point of contention our entire marriage and the main reason we sleep separately. Last night, I noticed that he has a quilt and a fleece blanket over him, AND he had his head covered w/ a pillow and the quilt. 0% of his skin was exposed. And the fan was just sitting there, whirring away. I can hear it even with earplugs in, I guess because it vibrates the floor and up the legs of the bed. lol, I know this sounds crazy. But I just want peace and quiet for one part of my day. I have slept badly since he moved back into the master. We need a 4 br house.
I'll just apologize on behalf of your husband. This is me. I hate being hot and love being cold when I sleep. Our fan is on every night and I am bundled up. It used to piss my husband off but now he's over it.
Exactly! It's easier to snuggle up and stay warm than it is to get cool once you're hot. We compromised and keep it on medium. He'd rather it be off and I'd rather it be on high. He's getting used to it (finally).
DH hid my swedish fish I got yesterday at Ikea. I'm pissed and just want my fish.
Whut?
Why is he doing that?
eta- just saw your answer to Nic....."trying to help you"?
WTAF?
So I have a candy problem. If I open a bag of candy I eat the WHOLE THING. So when I got pregnant I asked DH to help me by hiding the candy bags if I've opened them so I don't eat it all in one sitting. Usually he leaves out small portions which is perfect for me (I have ZERO self control). Well we had company last night and he left at 5 for work this morning and totally forgot. He did end up telling me where the bag is.
H and I use an air cleaner as "white noise." Would that be an option? It sits on a night stand so there is no vibration. Or does he really like the air blowing on him?
Well he says he likes the air blowing on him, but I'm side-eyeing him after last night!
Both H and I prefer it to be cooler, but there has to be a compromise if you're sleeping poorly. I travel with earplugs just in case there's someone noisy in the room next door, but they never completely block sound AND I feel a little ill-at-ease wearing them - like maybe I wouldn't wake up if there was an emergency. I hope you can find something that works for you both!
I'm now 6 days late. I have the poos and I'm so damned tired that I just want to go back to bed. H had a V and testing showed he is sterile but I'm still considering POAS just to ease my mind.
Test. My DH had the big V and then five YEARS LATER I had Leo. So yeah.. test

Damn, I'm reading everyone's annoyances and now mine seem trivial.
BUT...this morning my toilet tank decided to spring a leak. I called the plumber at 8:00 a.m. this morning and am still waiting for a call back, over five hours later.
This has been the summer of plumbing woes. EVERY faucet in our house--bathtub, bathroom sink, and kitchen sink--developed a leak within a month of each other. We finally got the last of the repairs completed two weeks ago (including an awesome new kitchen faucet), and now the toilet tank tanks.
Aaaaaand, just before I hit the send button on this post H called to say the plumbers showed up (they got a call from their boss and thought someone had already called me). Tank bolts rusted through. $6 bolts. Cheap repair if you don't count the $120 service call. ::sigh::

Call the nurse, not the receptionist. She will get you fixed up. The scheduler tried to pull the same shit with me about my iud placement (she was all, "call back when you get your period" ..."um, I'm pp and nursing, it could be a year!") so I called my obs nurse and she got me in. They keep appts for pregnant and pp patients open, which is how you can easily schedule your prenatal visits but not your well woman exams.
Honestly? Body hair is annoying me. I think it is effed up that I am getting continually pricked in the armpit since I dared to put off shaving for one damn day. Fuck off body hair! You're not my boss!
