It makes me so happy to read all your words of support. Seriously. You guys have made me feel so better. Thank you.
I'm rethinking who I will be visiting next weekend. This person has been crossed off the list. I'll get a pedicure or a drink with TrudyCampbell or any other NYC April probie instead
Ummmm.. YES!
And what that person wrote is disgusting. You have every right to be outraged.
I would be really upset - especially since your sons are half middle eastern. Are they going to say those sorts of things around them? Is that how they think of you. Id probably say something to H and possibly the family member
I'm half so they are technically a quarter
Some things have been said around them but they were infants. I've told H (and he agrees) that I will not tolerate it and I will not subject my children to such ignorance. I never remain quiet when it happens.
I held back in my response but posted this:
" It makes me sad that my boys will grow up in a world where comments like this are made about their ethnicity and are then shared for laughs. I don't see anything funny about teaching a child to be derogatory towards people of different cultures."
Very classy and better than he deserved. Good job staying on the high road.

Pretty please
I'm raging on your behalf about the original post.

Oh hell no.
You should have definitly responded. There is a lot of hate going around for Arabs and perpetuating it in children is ugly. I'm sorry our boys will have to grow up with ppl being so stupid. The best thing we can do it teach them the truth about their culture and that ignorance plagues a lot of ppl. They'll be clever boys and hopefully overcome any stereotypes people force upon them.
1. You have class. You handled that waaaaayyyyy better than I would have. 2. I'm sorry you have to deal with that. 3. I'm really really pissed for you.
Your response was perfect. Did your jerk relative respond/apologize? I sure hope he did, because his words were awful and you/your boys shouldn't have to deal with that kind of ignorance and hate.
