We recently had new cards/numbers issued to us due to fraud. I had to go update all of my automatic payments, but there was one monthly charity auto pay that I forgot to update. Somehow, it is still being charged to our card every month, despite the old number having been cancelled. I don't understand how that happens.

Somehow, it is still being charged to our card every month, despite the old number having been cancelled. I don't understand how that happens.
I know for a month or 2 when they were switching my card over, autobills to the old number were transferred to my new account by the card company. I don't know if it would work for physical cards or non-auto bills. Surely not as previously established auto bills are likely not fraud.

I had that exact same thing happen with my Barclay card. It was denied at a merchant but should not have been. When I called they said it was not "fully activated"- despite the fact that I had activated it by phone and used for the past 4 months with no issue. It was weird...
