My point was that it's 90 degrees at 7:30PM - not normal. 90 degrees during the day? Somewhat normal!
Gotcha. It is hot for it being past sundown. The mornings have been very cool though, which is a good sign. I will keep my fingers crossed that there won't be a big one soon
And that's the other weird thing - we usually get our foggy mornings in June/July, not Sep - so odd.
I will ill still take earthquakes over tornado/hurricanes though. Any day.

Yeah, tornadoes suck. I don't know why I live here. It feels like you are playing Russian roulette every time a storm cell rolls through.
It is super warm (I'm in the South Bay) but it usually gets blazing hot for a few weeks in Sept. before we settle into cooler weather. ETA I can remember some Halloweens that have been super warm too. No matter how much I will boots and scarf weather to descend upon us.
Yeah. Like Oct.17. When we got slammed with a 7.2
Where is montereybride when I need her, lol. She gets me!
I was here for that earthquake. I was 15 years old in my room in San Jose listening to my Smiths CD.

Anyone who is not from Califirnia can drink a GIANT cup of STFU. Earthquake weather is real but if you're not from here we don't expect you to get it. Just don't have the audacity to argue with us.

How can you possibly distinguish HOT weather from EARTHQUAKE weather? /audacitizes

You just know. Usually an abormally high heat and there is an eery stillness. It's hard to explain. Doesn't happen with all quakes - but generally does with the big ones

Unusually warm for the time of year/time of day, possibly overcast, very still/no wind, a certain mugginess in the air.
To be fair the high was 84 degrees with a low of 50 the day of the '89 earthquake. I am legit I promise. I have lived in the SF Bay Area for 40 years. I do the think balmy weather is earthquake'ish weather.
Fields & Monterey, as long as I have been on these boards, you guys have been waiting for the big one. I swear. lol
We are scarred, for reals!
We're totally beetlejuicing the big one, aren't we.
Also because we are over due. Nor Cal and So Cal are totally overdue for a big one. Then they say all the tiny ones are good because it releases pressure. I want to believe that so bad. We've had so many this year that it freaks me out. I feel like it's just a precursor to the big one so I'm sitting next to you ladies!
I was really missing Berkeley the other day. After this thread, not so much! I actually prefer the tornados down here to earthquakes.
Yeah, this is one of those things that you do, until you don't. We got wrecked in April 2011, and the whole area has PTSD from it. Before then, I thought nothing of them. So yeah, no big deal until it levels a school or half your town, then you change your mind.

I've experienced both earthquakes and tornados. I will pick the earthquake over the tornado every time. When an earthquake starts, I know where it is, what it's doing, and that it'll be over soon. Tornados? Not so much. They're too erratic.
And there's a "tornado season" so it's likely to happen all the time. Earthquakes are so random.
