My husband & I are having a difference of opinion. I want a gray tone and he wants a beige tone. What color would you do? All the flooring is warm with peach undertones. The dining table is dark cherry. Attachment Deleted Attachment Deleted
I would go with gray. Beige with all of those warm, beigey tones is a bit much.
Last May I saw Genevieve Gorder at the Flower & Garden Festival at Epcot, and she talked about how much more versatile she felt gray was than beiges and browns, and how it was a fresher, more modern (as in not screaming 1974, not necessarily style-she used it heavily in her apartment that is over 150 yrs old) feel. She said that browns and beiges can just be too much once you bring in wood tones, and it all starts to blend into "a blob". lol
Cabinets will be the same and will add a backsplash but that will be down the road. He loves gray in other spaces so I'm not sure why he's against or here.

I tried to post a pic of my dining room but I wasn't able to ? Not sure why. For other color suggestions, look at Ben Moore revere pewter. I have RP in my hallway, it is a grey/ beige. Also look at Sherwin Williams functional gray, Dorian gray or colors near it on their "essential colors" chart.
I don't think I'd like gray with that floor. Gray and tan together annoy me.
Since the wood is neutral, I'd be inclinded to pick a color to bounce off the flooring. Or, I'd select the fabric for the window treatments and pull something out of those to match or contrast. I pick paint last unless I'm doing all white linens as I did in my MBR.
With the floor, I could see going to the opposite side of the color wheel and doing a blue. I midtoned cadet of light navy would make a statement. A grayed down light blue would be "safe". Or you could find a mid-tone silvery sage green or even a deep chamois color.

Can I clarify? I was typing quick this morning before work. What I meant to say was that if you like the gray/ taupe, those are some suggestions I listed above. But I like Auntie's idea of sage or blue. I think that would look great considering the cabinets and floor.

If the choices are beige or gray, I say beige. I don't love gray with the flooring. With the tones in the OPs kitchen, I like pps suggestions of considering sage or blue.
