The fence is finished, except for a minor adjustment on one of the front gates and the inspection is scheduled for Monday!
It will be stained eventually, but they advise waiting 40 days for pressure treated and we have a lot of other projects on the list, and company coming after Thanksgiving, and it is a lot of wood to stain, so it may have to wait until after the first of the year.
Side yard before
Same side yard...note the neighbor's side yard. From this angle you don't see the air conditioner and their side door. That window is their family room, which for the the past year plus has looked onto our courtyard and into our glass walled kitchen and hall to our bedroom. Technically our bedroom too, but while fenceless, we did not dress/undress in there with lights on, since our blinds are woven wood and not entirely private.
After The neighbors like their view from their family room now.
Backside of front section and the part that faces the neighbors.
Opposite side is the back of the fence for the dog run off the studio, and the courtyard.
Inside the courtyard, complete with partial photo of courtyard currently full of junk. The new fence line is 12 feet out from the original fence (and the current garden fence keeping the dogs in) on the right side.
New view of neighbor's house from the house, except that I was trying not to show all of the mess in the courtyard so it makes it look smaller than it is. ;p
Dog run/trash (approximately 16' x 12') sorry-not sure why it showed up sideways.
Little fenced area off the bathrooms/back corner of the house. It is where we are putting the spa.
Same space, just sideways- coming from the other side yard.
Love the horizontal boards. Will you be staining it?
Thanks.
It will be stained eventually, but it may have to wait until after the first of the year. I would love to get at least the front section (front and side yard) done before we have guests after Thanksgiving, so that the house looks more finished from the front, but no guarantees that will happen by then.

I'd try to do it sooner rather than later. Then I could shift my focus to PLANTING(!) and designing the "new" space.

I love your wooded lot- so many trees.
We have to wait another month or so before it is recommended to stain the pressure treated wood, so I am planning to use that time to get a sense of all of the new spaces. The courtyard feels incredibly different and is going to take time for us to figure out. So far the only thing we can agree on is that we need to have something on the ground besides the landscape cloth that is currently down to keep the dogs from bringing in so much sand, and that we need to add more landscape cloth to the new area that was added while we are trying to make up our minds. And that we want planting areas to help create 'rooms'.
I keep walking through the now fenced side yard and the backyard and can really see that it can be something more than just wooded lot that we couldn't do anything with like I thought. We are planning on putting in a vegetable garden with raised beds in one area, but there is so much more to the backyard that I would love to plant with interesting plants that would make someplace to stop and look rather just try to avoid or walk through on your way to another part of the yard.
We need to work on the front yard plan (both hardscape and landscape) so that we can put in a driveway. I think that is high priority, since a friend wants to share the cost of a bobcat rental pretty soon. The highest priorityfor DH is probably the space for our spa, which needs pavers and some plants for privacy...you can kind of/sort of see from one shower to the other and it freaks DH out. lol
We also need to paint the house and have 1000 things to do indoors in the meantime, while we wait for the rains to stop ruining our outdoor plans. Good thing we plan to be here for a very long time, because we need it. ;p
Today the gate got fixed and the fence passed inspection!
The inspector was the was who did the final on the kitchen and loved that (even asked for the name of our cabinet guy), had inspected the roof and something in the studio too, so he's pretty familiar with the house.
He loved the design of the fence and told me that he really loved what we are doing to the house. He asked about stain color for the fence and gave me things to think about color-wise that I hadn't thought of yet, and talked to me a little about the driveway. Now my brain really might explode with all of the ideas bouncing around in there.;p
