Who's gonna fly like a G6 this weekend during her marathon? G22 that's who!! Let's cheer her on as she conquers the Air Force Marathon!! Get it girl!
What marathon is the light at the end of your training tunnel? McM
Who did their homework last week? Let's see some pictures! Ummmm....
When do you start sleeping in a bit more/less to take on your long runs? Theoretically, after Labor Day I was going to start going to bed at like 9:30. That hasn't really happened...
What kind of factors lend to your wake up time (heat, schedule, brightness, etc) I don't run in the am during the week and I meet a group on Saturday so my wake up time is determined by when I need to leave to get to gtown by 7 am
Where is the time going? It's already halfway through September, gah. Tell us what the rest of your training plan looks like until race day. Three 50+ mi weeks then taper time!
How are you feeling? No really, how are you feeling? Let it out. Outstanding. For real. I'm really pleased at how well my body has been handling all this mileage!
Why does packing for races give me way more anxiety than packing for vacation? Tell me about your packing/pre-race organization rituals. I actually prefer to race locally so I don't have to deal with packing. Too much anxiety. But basically I just lay everything out as I would at home before packing and also bring 2-3 options for outfits.
What marathon is the light at the end of your training tunnel? Potomac River Run Marathon 11/16
Who did their homework last week? Let's see some pictures! not me
When do you start sleeping in a bit more/less to take on your long runs? What kind of factors lend to your wake up time (heat, schedule, brightness, etc) Now I'm chasing the sunrise. I try to get out as soon as it's light enough (usually 20 minutes before sunrise). I'm not going to run alone in the dark on the trail. I always want to get out before the kids are up and I like to get back before my daughter goes down for her morning nap around 9:30-10. I got up at 5:25 Saturday morning and it felt good! But I only had 15 miles so it made it easier.
During the week, I try to get back by 7-7:10 no matter how far I'm going. So I can get my DD off to daycare and get on my laptop. (I only run in the AM on days I telework.)
Where is the time going? It's already halfway through September, gah. Tell us what the rest of your training plan looks like until race day. Still 9 weeks left. So lots more mileage. I'm going to start doing some VO max sessions, more tempo runs, tune up races, 2 more 20 milers. It's going to be busy!
How are you feeling? No really, how are you feeling? Let it out. I'm feeling pretty good. The cooler weather is giving me better results which is giving me more confidence. I had a great tempo run yesterday with my running partner. One of the moms in my running group is doing the same race as me and we'll probably be running it together both hoping for a BQ. We've been running together 2x a week for the last couple of weeks. It's great to have someone who is the same pace if not a little faster to motivate me.
Why does packing for races give me way more anxiety than packing for vacation? Tell me about your packing/pre-race organization rituals. I HATE packing for vacation and with two kids to pack for it is terrible. I actually don't mind packing for a race since it's easier than packing for two kids. I sometimes make a list. But I always get everything humanly possible ready the night before, even set out the dishes I'm going to use for my breakfast.
What marathon is the light at the end of your training? AIR FORCE MARATHON!! WEEEEE!
Who did their homework last week? Let's see some pictures! ok I admit I had to go double check what the assignment was. But I have pictures!
Struggle - what my last 3 days have looked like Attachment Deleted Success - I got out and ran anyways Attachment Deleted Something interesting - my dad's Camaro I got him to take me out for a ride in it yesterday for the first time. Attachment Deleted
When do you start sleeping in a bit more/less to take on your long runs? What kind of factors lend to your wake up time (heat, schedule, brightness, etc) I like the tackle most of my runs in the morning. Partly because as the day goes on I lose motivation, but I also like going out in the AM while most people are at work. I like a quiet run around the neighborhood. I try to get an earlier start if its going to be hot.
Where is the time going? It's already halfway through September, gah. Tell us what the rest of your training plan looks like until race day. Rest, rest, rest/easy run, easy run, 5k, race day!
How are you feeling? No really, how are you feeling? Let it out. I'm ready. I really am. Despite this stupid head cold, I still have hopes for maybe squeaking out a tiny PR
Why does packing for races give me way more anxiety than packing for vacation? Tell me about your packing/pre-race organization rituals. I printed out a list of race stuff to pack, so that I wouldn't forget anything important. Then I tweaked it based on what I would need/want for this race. As things made it into my suitcase, I crossed them off the list. I *think* I've got everything, and then some now.
Who's gonna fly like a G6 this weekend during her marathon? G22 that's who!! Let's cheer her on as she conquers the Air Force Marathon!! Go G22!!
What marathon is the light at the end of your training tunnel? Chicago marathon - 27 days!!!
Who did their homework last week? Let's see some pictures! My dog ate my homework?
When do you start sleeping in a bit more/less to take on your long runs? What kind of factors lend to your wake up time (heat, schedule, brightness, etc) My wake up time is determined by when I'm supposed to meet with my friends.
Where is the time going? It's already halfway through September, gah. Tell us what the rest of your training plan looks like until race day. Peak week!! 33-36 miles (I don't know if I can fit in another day of running). Then it's Taper time!!!
How are you feeling? No really, how are you feeling? Let it out. I wasn't feeling great last week, but this week is already much better. Fingers crossed that it stays that way.
Why does packing for races give me way more anxiety than packing for vacation? Tell me about your packing/pre-race organization rituals. I set out my race stuff first, then I mentally go through my day and make a list of things I want to take with me.
When do you start sleeping in a bit more/less to take on your long runs? What kind of factors lend to your wake up time (heat, schedule, brightness, etc)
If i have friends to run with me, I decide on what time i start based on what time i'm meeting them (usually they run 6-8 with me, so i try to frontload so i can finish with them
Where is the time going? It's already halfway through September, gah. Tell us what the rest of your training plan looks like until race day.
Week 6 of 18 - it's a step-back week and then it's double digits for long runs until taper.
How are you feeling? No really, how are you feeling? Let it out.
Long run saturday was in terrible weather, raining and humid- but i knocked out the last 5 of my 12 miler in sub 9:00 pace - which is booking it for me! I was READY to be finished.
Why does packing for races give me way more anxiety than packing for vacation? Tell me about your packing/pre-race organization rituals.
I lay-out my race outfit and then build on what goes with it: ponytail holder sunglasses body glide fuel belt bottles fuel water change of clothes post-race etc
What marathon is the light at the end of your training tunnel? MCM
Who did their homework last week? Let's see some pictures!
Attachment Deleted DD1 and DS had their first cross country meet this w/e. Here is DD2 passed out mid meet. She ran more than my runners combined, but always in the opposite direction of me. Long day!
When do you start sleeping in a bit more/less to take on your long runs? What kind of factors lend to your wake up time (heat, schedule, brightness, etc) Most of my runs are at 9am now b/c of the kids schedules. I wake up around 6:30 to get them to the bus stop. I use the stroller, gym daycare, and DD2 has preschool 2x a week. I acknowledge it is a pretty sweet schedule.
Where is the time going? It's already halfway through September, gah. Tell us what the rest of your training plan looks like until race day. September: 65-70 mpw, Oct: half at the beginning of the month, followed by a 20 and then taper.
How are you feeling? No really, how are you feeling? Let it out. Pretty good. The hardest part has been hitting speed work on tired legs. I want to do some shorter tune up races but it is hard to fit them in, and I think I'd have trouble running speedy anyway with this kind of mileage.
Why does packing for races give me way more anxiety than packing for vacation? Tell me about your packing/pre-race organization rituals. I don't have any, which is probably why I'm always forgetting something.

What marathon is the light at the end of your training tunnel? Wineglass - Oct 5th...Taper Time!!!
Who did their homework last week? Let's see some pictures! I took pictures, but I can't get them off my phone right now! Stay Tuned! Success - Running 22 and getting through a really difficult part (maybe it was a wall...guess we'll see)
Struggle - I'll spare you the picture of my chafing and blisters...this is my biggest issue with these long distances! I thought yesterday was going to be the long run that I avoided chafing, but no such luck! It was significantly less than my 20 miler, though! Something interesting - I ran the C&O Canal Trail along the MD/WV border...it was really foggy and there were these beautiful spiderwebs in all the tree branches that had the morning dew on them. I tried to take a pic of a couple - they're hard to photograph, but they looked really cool!
When do you start sleeping in a bit more/less to take on your long runs? What kind of factors lend to your wake up time (heat, schedule, brightness, etc) . I am hoping that yesterday was the last day I had to wake up obscenely early for a long run. Most of the summer it was about heat. Yesterday it was cool, but I am slow and didn't want to run all freakin' day, so I got out up at 4:45 to get out there by 7am.
Where is the time going? It's already halfway through September, gah. Tell us what the rest of your training plan looks like until race day. Track Tuesday, Tempo Thurs (I don't actually know the distances of these, I just look at my calendar in the AM). 13mi and 8mi for my long runs. I just finished Stage 7 of NROLW, so I'm just doing some improv strength training til race day rather than starting a new plan. Alternating Swimming and Cycling for cross-training.
How are you feeling? No really, how are you feeling? Let it out. Surprisingly good. I was hurtin' yesterday, but I did a whole lot of nothin' the rest of the day after my run. I swam this morning and even though it makes me nauseated, it really helps my joints/muscles feel better.
Why does packing for races give me way more anxiety than packing for vacation? Tell me about your packing/pre-race organization rituals. I have a spreadsheet. I will probably put it together this week...was too tired yesterday. I list everything I need - running related and not. I have a food/nutrition bag and then all my clothes/gear goes in my gym bag. I lay it all out and check it off on my spreadsheet.

Go @g22!! You can do it! But first, rest up and get well soon!
What marathon is the light at the end of your training tunnel? Columbus Marathon, 10/19, 5 weeks
Who did their homework last week? Let's see some pictures! Oops, I forgot.
When do you start sleeping in a bit more/less to take on your long runs? What kind of factors lend to your wake up time (heat, schedule, brightness, etc). I am still shooting for 7am -- if it starts getting too dark, I may have to push them later but I'd rather not.
Where is the time going? It's already halfway through September, gah. Tell us what the rest of your training plan looks like until race day. I have a 12 next weekend, a 20 miler after that, another 12 starts the taper!
How are you feeling? No really, how are you feeling? Let it out. I am feeling better now that I am down to one more "really" long run left. Plus my 19 miler went really well on Saturday (much better than my 18 miler two weeks ago) and I found a new running buddy who is also marathon training.
Why does packing for races give me way more anxiety than packing for vacation? Tell me about your packing/pre-race organization rituals. Mostly I just pack lots of "extra" clothes and it all works out. This time we have a wedding the day/night before the marathon (just happened to be the same weekend in the same out-of-town location) so I will need to worry about packing extra stuff for the wedding.
Who's gonna fly like a G6 this weekend during her marathon? G22 that's who!! Let's cheer her on as she conquers the Air Force Marathon!! GOOD LUCK @g22!!
What marathon is the light at the end of your training tunnel? MCM
Who did their homework last week? Let's see some pictures! Struggle - I did 20 after work on Friday and I drabbed my husband's water bottle lids and they didn't fit on my water bottles. So I ran with a Gatorade bottle.
Success - I ran a 5K on Sunday in 23:05 and was the second female. I was hoping for a PR, but turns out my legs were tired after running 20 earlier in the week.
Interesting - Hmmmmm
When do you start sleeping in a bit more/less to take on your long runs? What kind of factors lend to your wake up time (heat, schedule, brightness, etc) The heat is what usually makes me get up early. As it gets cooler I am more likely to sleep in.
Where is the time going? It's already halfway through September, gah. Tell us what the rest of your training plan looks like until race day. It is all down hill from here. I hit 51 last week and have three 45-50 mile weeks before the taper begins.
How are you feeling? No really, how are you feeling? Let it out. I've got to do one more long run after work this week, which is stressing me out. I will be glad when I don't have quite so much stuff going on.
Why does packing for races give me way more anxiety than packing for vacation? Tell me about your packing/pre-race organization rituals. Pre race I lay out all my clothes and gear the night before and charge my watch. I check my watch several times to make sure it is charging. This is pretty much always my nightly routine if I am running in the morning.

What marathon is the light at the end of your training tunnel? Columbus Marathon - 10/19
When do you start sleeping in a bit more/less to take on your long runs? What kind of factors lend to your wake up time (heat, schedule, brightness, etc) I do most of my runs ridiculously early in the morning, so it's all about getting to bed earlier for me. I slept in the latest I have in a couple of years on Sunday, and I was up at 7:45.
Where is the time going? It's already halfway through September, gah. Tell us what the rest of your training plan looks like until race day. This week is a drop back week with a long run of 12. Next week is my heaviest mileage week ever with a long run of 20 (or 22 - I'm still deciding), then taper for two weeks. Taper long runs are 12, then 8.
How are you feeling? No really, how are you feeling? Let it out. I'm nervous, and tired. I know I'm at the point of my training where this feeling is normal-ish, but I'm feeling ready (and not at all ready - does that make sense?) for this to be over. I know it will all be worth it, though. Just have to get there.
Why does packing for races give me way more anxiety than packing for vacation? Tell me about your packing/pre-race organization rituals. I'll be running a hometown race, so nothing too crazy. I'll lay out all my stuff a few days before, then obsess about touching every item over and over again to make sure it's still there.

Good morning Ladies!
Who's gonna fly like a G6 this weekend during her marathon? G22 that's who!! Let's cheer her on as she conquers the Air Force Marathon!! GOOOOO @g22 ! You got this girl!
What marathon is the light at the end of your training tunnel? Kiawah!
Who did their homework last week? Let's see some pictures! Yea, I'v been mia the past few weeks, I love my job, but it's a busy time of year! I'm going with my runger ate my homework?
When do you start sleeping in a bit more/less to take on your long runs? What kind of factors lend to your wake up time (heat, schedule, brightness, etc) Well, I'm an early bird, and I REALLY like getting my runs in early, period. HOWEVER, I just did this past weekend's long run at lunch and it was AMAZING. I really liked getting out at lunch. I've run at lunch before but it's been so hot and humid that it really wasn't fun, so today's nice cool overcast run was a blessing!
Where is the time going? It's already halfway through September, gah. Tell us what the rest of your training plan looks like until race day. I need lunch.
How are you feeling? No really, how are you feeling? Let it out. I've destroyed my feet two separate times this week. It's not fun
Why does packing for races give me way more anxiety than packing for vacation? Tell me about your packing/pre-race organization rituals. There is just so much to remember! I always make a "flat tuggy" (i.e. I lay everything out for each running outfit needed)

Oh! I want to play!
Good luck to the Air Force runners! I loved that marathon, and the medal is freaking amazing.
What marathon is the light at the end of your training tunnel? I just finished a cycle last week, at the Canton City Marathon. I'm hoping that my next will be Boston 2015! Waiting anxiously to hear. If not, I'll start training for the Flying Pig in December.
Who did their homework last week? I'm a few weeks behind in class
When do you start sleeping in a bit more/less to take on your long runs? What kind of factors lend to your wake up time (heat, schedule, brightness, etc) I start going to bed earlier once I hit 15 mile runs. I'm much better at getting out of bed in the summer.
How are you feeling? No really, how are you feeling? Let it out. I haven't run in a week because my quad feels funny. Not really painful, but not exactly normal, either. Going to try it out tomorrow!
Why does packing for races give me way more anxiety than packing for vacation?
I'm the same way! I make lots of lists and always unpack and repack at least once.
What marathon is the light at the end of your training tunnel? Quad Cities, 9/28!
Who did their homework last week? Let's see some pictures! Whoopsies! I never take my phone with me when I run, so I hardly ever have pics
When do you start sleeping in a bit more/less to take on your long runs? What kind of factors lend to your wake up time (heat, schedule, brightness, etc) If its super hot or humid, I am up early. Any other time, I like to sleep in a little. The exception is if its for a super long run (18+). DH and I go out to breakfast right after long runs, and if I start those too late, I am too ravenous by the end.
Where is the time going? It's already halfway through September, gah. Tell us what the rest of your training plan looks like until race day. TAPER TAPER TAPER!!!
How are you feeling? No really, how are you feeling? Let it out. I am feeling tired. Combo of not enough sleep and work being super busy (and training). Hopefully taking it a little easier the next few weeks will be just what I need.
Why does packing for races give me way more anxiety than packing for vacation? Tell me about your packing/pre-race organization rituals. I pack for pretty much every weather scenario, especially with early fall / spring races. It could be a zillion degrees or freezing or sunny or raining. And the forecast changes every 3 seconds. So I end up packing like 5 outfit choices, but always wear the same thing pretty much regardless.

I'm late to this, but here goes.
What marathon is the light at the end of your training tunnel? MCM
Who did their homework last week? Let's see some pictures! I have photos from my beach boardwalk runs on my phone that I'll try to post later (I'm on my work computer now).
When do you start sleeping in a bit more/less to take on your long runs? What kind of factors lend to your wake up time (heat, schedule, brightness, etc). I've been running with a group, so I've been going out at the same time every Saturday. The timing for my weekday runs depends on when the sun comes up.
Where is the time going? It's already halfway through September, gah. Tell us what the rest of your training plan looks like until race day. I have a 20-miler this week, then a step-back week, followed by my last 20-miler and then taper. It seems like hardly any time left at all.
How are you feeling? No really, how are you feeling? Let it out. Stressed (from work) and tired (from work, life in general, and training).
Why does packing for races give me way more anxiety than packing for vacation? Tell me about your packing/pre-race organization rituals. I have a race packing list that I keep on my phone, so I check it before every race to make sure I haven't forgotten anything. I've only traveled for a handful of races, so it's easier to prepare when I'm at home.
Who's gonna fly like a G6 this weekend during her marathon? G22 that's who!! Let's cheer her on as she conquers the Air Force Marathon!! Go @g22 !
What marathon is the light at the end of your training tunnel? It's a long tunnel but I just started the Hal Higdon marathon training schedule to be ready for the Austin Marathon on 02.15.15. But now that DS is finally on a semi-normal sleep schedule at night and not going to bed at 1am, I can finally concentrate on running and training. Hopefully.
Who did their homework last week? Let's see some pictures! I ran last Monday but couldn't get back out for a run until Saturday and Sunday. Both days I ran 3 miles.
When do you start sleeping in a bit more/less to take on your long runs? What kind of factors lend to your wake up time (heat, schedule, brightness, etc) Looks like I'll have to get to bed early in 5 weeks for my Wednesday run which is supposed to be 5 miles. I'll have to wake up earlier to try and make sure I can get back in time to shower and get DS ready for school.
Where is the time going? It's already halfway through September, gah. Tell us what the rest of your training plan looks like until race day.
How are you feeling? No really, how are you feeling? Let it out. I'm excited about the idea of running a marathon but I totally foresee myself getting frustrated. We'll see.
Why does packing for races give me way more anxiety than packing for vacation? Tell me about your packing/pre-race organization rituals. I have never run a race out of town. I get nervous running in town as it is.
