Lol, I think "TTucker's Law" is the sentence used in that question -- not something to do with grammar.
A gerund is the noun form of an action verb, most commonly created by tacking on -iing. For example, in "HHiking is fun," you turned the verb hike into the subject of the sentence, so "hhiking" is the gerund.
