One of my favorite singers, whom I haven't seen in several years, is kicking off a big tour about that same time. He'll be in our area about a month after the due date (I'm sure that's too early for me), and then back to a city about 1.5hrs from here at the start of June. Baby will be about 4.5 months by then.
Do you think you'd feel okay about leaving a baby with a sitter by that age, for a long night out/away? It'd be probably 6 hours total.
Also: baby will be in daycare part-time from 10 weeks, but we're within 2 miles of there. I think I'm less worried about the hours apart than the distance.
My first I wasn't comfortable leaving with people other than family until past a year. He cried a lot and didn't sleep well.
My second I left for the evening at 4 or 5 months and was okay with it. He was pretty happy and slept well. He wouldn't take a bottle then and was EBFd so I could only leave him for 3 or 4 hours. If he had taken a bottle I would have been able to go out longer and wouldn't have had a problem with it.
I think it will depend on how you feel about your sitter and how your baby is. We left DS1 at that age for nights out with family members. We didn't really start using non family sitters at night till he was around 18 months.
Now we don't live near any of our family but when we moved here we found an amazing sitter ( she is a full time nanny during the week) and I wouldn't hesitate leaving her with a newborn she is fantastic.

I probably couldn't do it, unless I was leaving baby with one of our moms. I have a sitter I adore but I haven't ever been that far away from DS unless he was with a set of grandparents.
