where should I be?
I'm going to rent a dress from RTR to go to a Military formal and I can't stop thinking about showing up in the same dress as someone else.
I know there is never a guarantee this won't happen (unless I personally hire Vera), but what are the chances it will? I'd like to take my freak out to an appropriate level.
I wouldn't be worried. Does RTR have lots of multiples? Plus since most are previous seasons, people won't be out buying it either.
More importantly, who's the date???
He's just a good friend of mine. But he's a Captain, soon to be a Major, and I'm ridiculously nervous about being completely appropriate - in looks, words and actions. I don't want to embarrass him.
That said - I think he knows me well enough to know he's taking a decent risk here. haha!

It's happened to me twice--like within a couple months. I inwardly wigged out, but I got over it quickly.
Besides, I looked BETTER than the other person who was wearing "my" dress! lol
Happened to me once.
Fancy outdoor wedding of a neighbor- 2nd time out for both. Temp was forecasted to hit 105F during the ceremony, so I decided against my favorite silk dress which would have shown sweat like it was its job. Instead I figured, I'll swing by the consignment shop and see what they had. They had a pale gold crepe dress that fit perfectly for $25- it didn't even need to be hemmed. It looked nice and was super comfortable. I was feeling pretty smug until the strings quartet started playing and the bride walked in wearing a pale sage green version of my dress. I had a major wig-out but the bride and groom thought it was the funniest part of the whole day.
You are overthinking this. Don't show up looking like a skank and who cares if someone is wearing the same dress, although I doubt it, all the military balls I went to, it's not really runway style more ready to wear formal. Personalize your accessories.
I don't think this is a real worry. Though my mom and cousin wore the same dress to a wedding.
My MIL and a friend of mine who my FIL once commented about having a "nice ass" in front of my MIL wore the same dress to my wedding. My MIL internally combusted when she saw it. It still makes me laugh to think about it.

I have a picture from a winter formal back in the day (we're talking late 90s) where 5 or 6 of us are in the same dress, two or three different colors. I don't recall caring back then so I'd like to think I'd be okay with it now.
I actually lived the Brenda/Kelly same prom dress fiasco, for my junior prom.
Some little freshman skank showed up with MY dress on. Of course, I looked a million times better but I laugh now thinking how mortified I was.
I'll do you one better...another girl who was in my group wore the same dress. It was bots choice, so I wasn't friends with her. It was awkward (and funny enough, it was in a black and white dress...wonder if I can find the pictures, lol)
I went to a very large wedding over the weekend in a DVF wrap dress that I had just bought from the Nordstrom anniversary sale. I thought for SURE someone else would be wearing it. Newp! With RTR you are way safer than that. #anecdote #blessed
