I am a nervous Nellie anyways, but how long will they let her push? It has been almost 3 hours. She is completely worn out. Of course, grandma is yelling at everyone which is helping exactly 0.
I would never say this to her right now, but I only pushed for about 20 minutes with my first, and maybe 10 minutes with my second, so I have no frame of reference.

At three hours of pushing, I was exhausted and asked for them to try something else. My best option at that point was a c-section. I don't know when they would have suggested it if I didn't ask.
And if you value your life, even a little bit, I wouldn't mention your easy labor right now.

I would never EVER. She would probably literally smack me in the face right now
I pushed for over 2 hours and ended up getting the vacuum with my first. I pushed for 41 minutes the second time, but I was a shoulders issue both times.

ACOG (American College of Ob/Gyn) recommendations for first time mom's is to support pushing for 3+ hours before considering alternatives if mother and baby are otherwise doing well (fetal heart tones, etc)
Around 4 hours and ended up with a csection because the baby was Occiput Transverse and they said that there was a risk of damaging the baby's neck if I tried to push her out.
I pushed for over 5 hours before I ended up with a c-section. Turned out she wasn't positioned quite right, which they couldn't tell because she was head down, it was just the base of her head where it meets her neck that was trying to come out first.

My hospital is weird in that they had a 3-hour limit before wheeling moms into the OR for a CS. You'd think their CS rate would be astronomical as a result but no, one of the lowest in the city. I pushed for 1.5 hours so anyone who pushes for longer than that is a rock star in my book, because I was at the end of my rope at that point. But yes, women can and do push for 3+ hours.

I pushed for 3 hours with my first. I'm not sure how long they would have let me keep pushing though. I developed an unexplained fever, so they decided to do a csection just to be safe.
You know, it was only the last hour that sucked out of the four that I was pushing. I just was sick of it by then. But it's not too painful when you have an epidural and I was cracking jokes with H and the staff the first two hours.
I am still sore (pun intended) that my BFF only labored 3 hours total with each of her kids and pushed them both right out in minutes.

My first was at that same angle. They tried a vacuum but attached it to the back of his head so all it did was stretch out his head really weird and I got a c-section after almost 4 hours of pushing.
Geez, I don't think I realized pushing went on for so long. I had so many friends tell me they pushed like twice or for about 20 minutes or so. I pushed for close to 2 hours and people legitimately seemed puzzled why it took so long. Not that I want others pushing for a long time, but this post makes me feel better.

More anecdotes: I pushed for four hours and needed a vacuum assist at the end. We were starting to discuss C-section simply because I was getting too tired to go on. DS was fine throughout which is why they let me go so long.
I also pushed for 3 hours, but L was OP which made it a million times harder and painful to push her out.
Funny you say that about the episiotomy toledo because I did the same thing. The midwife was like, "If I just made a little cut she would slide right out." I looked at her with fire in my eyes and shook my head, NO and said, "I've been pushing for 3 hours, I think I can handle a few more minutes!" She was out within the next 10 minutes or so.
Maybe I need to request they threaten the knife this next time and maybe it will go a bit faster, ha. I'm pretty sure those were the worst 3 hours of my life.
