1. A half marathon. I spent my first 2.5 years as a runner swearing up down and sideways I was never doing a half marathon. I'm running HM #10 next month.
1. Run a marathon, I thought I would NEVER run a marathon, but I am about to run #2 2. Triathlon, swimming scares me, but I love the idea of a triathlon
The first race thread got me thinking... 1. What is something you thought you would never do, but you did? 2. What is something you can't picture yourself doing, but maaaaaaybe one day you will?
H&F, or not, or both.
1. Bed share with an infant. 2. A 10k. I really really want to do reach this goal and I never would have thought I'd want to do something so crazy. My longest distance to date is a little over 4 miles, so I think I can get there.

H&F Related 1. What is something you thought you would never do, but you did? Qualify for Boston. When I started running it was a total pipe dream.
2. What is something you can't picture yourself doing, but maaaaaaybe one day you will? An ultra. Specifically, Leadville 100
Not H&F Related 1. What is something you thought you would never do, but you did? Natural childbirth - I was always "I don't need a medal in the pain olympics!"
2. What is something you can't picture yourself doing, but maaaaaaybe one day you will? Finish my PhD.
H&F: I never thought I'd be faster than. A 10min/mile runner. The other week I has my first sub 7min mile.
I'm not sure I can imagine myself ever figuring out how to train for and finish an ironman, but I have this little voice in my head that tells me I might could do it one day
Non H&F: I never thought if finish my PhD. I kept dreaming up ways to walk away. But I did it and have a pretty long publication list at this point!
I don't known of I can see myself writing a book one day, but I'd love to, so maaaaaybee?
1. What is something you thought you would never do, but you did? A solo 6 hour mountain bike race. I did one last year and won. No more are on the horizon b/c of ongoing back and knee problems.
2. What is something you can't picture yourself doing, but maaaaaaybe one day you will? Skydiving.
1: I never thought I would run. Period. Let alone a half marathon. 2: something I can't picture myself doing but MAYBE some day--run a marathon, do a triathlon, and (NH&F) try IVF if necessary.
1. So many things. I never thought I'd run a half marathon, or do a triathlon. Then I thought I'd never do a half ironman. I also thought I'd never be good/serious enough to warrant buying a tri bike, and that I wouldn't have the stones to ride an aggressive bike after my bike crash a couple years ago. I'm learning never to say never.
2. Nothing. Seriously. I've learned so much, improved so much, that I realize that just because I can't picture it today, doesn't mean in a couple years I won't not only picture it, but love it. I want to run a full marathon someday. I want to do Ironman someday. I'm less scared of those than having kids, but I want to do that too. Bring it on, man.
H&F: 1. A triathlon of any kind! 2. I honestly have no idea. Maybe a half marathon? I struggle so much with running, it's hard to picture myself doing just a running training cycle and race.
Non H&F: 1. Got my PhD 2. Going in to an admin position.
1. Run a half marathon or a full. I swore I'd never do either after my first 10mile race. I've done 5 (I think) halfs and getting ready to do marathon #3.
2. Tris. I'd love to get into this, but I have a hard time seeing myself add in swimming and cycling training all at once. It sounds scary to balance all 3.
H&F: 1. I never thought I would BQ. Never ever ever. My first marathon was a 4:45 and I wanted to die afterward. I got my BQ last fall with a 3:32:55! 2. I maaaaayyybe someday will do a tri. I am a terrible swimmer and haven't spent any time on a bike other than leisure/commuting. So I wouldn't count on it. But maybe!
Non-H&F 1. I never thought I would prefer renting to owning a home. But now, I vastly prefer it. I love that I am not tied to an area and can move if I want to. Also not dealing with HOA, expensive repairs, etc is fantastic. For now, renting is also a lot cheaper than owning. 2. I maaaaaybe someday will change professions. I'm a pharmacist and I like it alright, but I am not in love with it or anything. Problem is: I can't think of something else I would rather do with comparable pay. I wouldn't write off eventually switching to another industry though.
H&F 1. Another never thought I'd BQ response. It wasn't even on my radar until 11 months before I did it, when it was 11 minutes within reach. 2. Sometimes I think a 50-miler sounds fun. There's also the whole tri/IM thing.
Non-H&F 1. A business degree. Seriously, it was always on my list as the last possible thing I'd ever want. It seemed so boring! It's not a dream or anything, and some days I dream of other things, but I'm generally happy in Marketing. 2) Being a stay-at-home mom. I'm still fairly certain it won't be for me, but as I get older & we get closer to kids, I can see some of the appeal.

H&F What is something you thought you would never do, but you did? Be a runner...let alone a marathon runner (which I will be in 3 weeks!) What is something you can't picture yourself doing, but maaaaaaybe one day you will? Ironman...it's in my head, but training for and running a marathon is pretty daunting by itself.
Non-H&F What is something you thought you would never do, but you did? Get a Master's Degree...most people didn't expect me to even finish HS lol What is something you can't picture yourself doing, but maaaaaaybe one day you will? Kids - the drive hasn't come yet, but who knows

H&F, or not, or both.
1. Run a half marathon or a marathon. See also: run a marathon pregnant. 2. A tri, of any distance. Damn you ladies and your tri race reports! This is how my trip down the rabbit hole started with distances greater than 5k.
NH&F: I think I have decided that my ideal working situation is very part time, with plenty of time for me to train for races. My caveat is that I want to look as good as kams while I do all of the races
I also never, ever thought that I would have an unmedicated child birth.

Your pregnant marathon was one for the books. Amazing!
And you're funny for saying that. You must have seen the photo tagged of me by my boss on fb? Oh my god. I was 11 weeks preg, so at the height of the bloat for this pregnancy (I popped like 2 days later), totally hunched over, terrible posture, in seriously the most unflattering position ever. That effing picture is haunting me. I needed to hear someone say I'm not an ogre. Thanks for that
The first race thread got me thinking... 1. What is something you thought you would never do, but you did? Never thought I would ever be able to do an Ironman. 2. What is something you can't picture yourself doing, but maaaaaaybe one day you will? Swimming the triple crown: The English Channel, Catalina Channel, swimming around Manhattan Island.

1. Run a marathon, do a sprint tri 2. Train for and finish a longer tri or...gulp...Ironman.
