If you have one:
1) How often do you have them come?
2) How much do you pay them?
3) What are they responsible for?
4) What cleaning, if any, do you do between visits?
We're thinking about getting a house cleaner after we move into the new house and I have no idea how often, what pay/duties are reasonable (though I'm sure this varies geographically), and if I'm going to get judged if I don't clean my shower between visits.

1) Every other week
2) $20/hour
3) Cleaning the kitchen, cleaning the bathroom, cleaning/vacuuming all floors, wiping down furniture, dusting, plus occasional special tasks (cleaning the windows, etc.).
4) Just very basic cleaning (like wiping down surfaces with food stains), but we declutter and/or make sure we don't keep too much clutter around so that way she can clean all the surfaces easily. She'll declutter for us if necessary but we'd rather she focus on the deep cleaning stuff and not waste time on picking up DH's stupid clothes all over the floor or something.
1) How often do you have them come? Every Thursday.
2) How much do you pay them? $100 a visit.
3) What are they responsible for? She cleans our entire first floor: master bedroom, laundry room, office, dining room, living room, hearth room, kitchen, eat-in area in kitchen, 2 half baths, one whole bath. She also changes our bed linens (we have two sets, she pulls the sheets off, puts the other set on and then puts the dirty set in the laundry to wash/dry while she's cleaning). She vacuums the carpets and mops the wood & slate floors. When we have company, we pay her double to spruce up the second floor (guest rooms/baths) and the basement (media room).
4) What cleaning, if any, do you do between visits? Not much, lol. We keep the kitchen tidy, load/unload dishwasher. If we have pans (that aren't D/W safe) in the sink, sometimes she'll do them, sometimes not.

1. About every other week. 2. $15/hr 3. 2 bathrooms - scrub everything, mop, etc., the kitchen - mop, counters, stove, microwave, she'll empty my dishwasher if they're clean and reload/hand wash if there are things in the sink, etc., mop the entry way, dust, vacuum. Once a month I'll have her do the windows and baseboards. I will also ask her to change out the sheets if I haven't done it within the past week. 4. We have 3 dogs and 3 little kids who are on the floor a ton, so I vacuum fairly frequently in between. I also pick everything up before she comes. I don't clean the bathrooms unless there's an extenuating circumstance, so don't worry about your shower

1) How often do you have them come? It was monthly but now I'm having them come every two weeks.
2) How much do you pay them? I have two women that come together, and pay them $100 total.
3) What are they responsible for? They dust and vacuum 2 bedrooms, an office, the family room, the living room, the kitchen, a full bath and half bath. They clean both bathrooms including the shower. They gather up and take out the trash. They clean the tile floors and our hardwood floor. They clean out the microwave and toaster oven. Wipe down the doors and cabinets if they need it, dust the blinds when they need it.
4) What cleaning, if any, do you do between visits? When I had them monthly we'd do everything between visits. Now that I'm on a two week schedule, I just lightly dust if it needs it, vacuum when it needs it, wipe the counters and clean the bathrooms.
