May Day. May Day. I don't know this accent and if I ran into you I couldn't let this chance pass me by. Think of another story for us.
The rest of you were Anglos I met in Quebec and you all live in Ontario now, lol. Hmmmm. Travelling. I also use that for the obscure people. Where have you been, lol. One of these days I should tell someone IRL that I interact daily with Internet strangers, but I probably won't.
No! This should never happen. I will never tell anyone.
The lies I had to come up with as to why I was exchanging Christmas gifts with strangers...

Everyone here is "a friend from college" for me.
This is exactly how I describe it anytime I am relaying info from the boards to someone. "Oh, I heard this story from one of my college friends..."
My H only knows the extent of my internet friendships because I have done video google hangouts with people from here, and there was no way to hide that. Before that, I totally downplayed my involvement here for him too. "Oh, so you know that message board I read occasionally? So today..."

You should've seen me trying to explain who killercupcake was to my friends when we met in Vegas. "oh hey ladies, I'm gonna go have a drink with an internet friend on the strip! See ya in a few!" lol. Thankfully, DH knows ALLLL about this place since he's met most of the colorado ladies. He even came to eat with me and KC after our friends left.
It's not weird! I wouldn't be weirded out if someone from here (that I know) came up to me. Â
I pretty much assume that at some point I will run into you (though I have no idea what you look like), 11D or GOAB... GOAB is more likely because my dad's entire family is up in her area...
Sadly me and ques would have to work at being in the same place at the same time.
I hope we do run into each other.(heart) I'm surprised you don't know what I look like, I'm all over the selfie threads when I get the chance. Lol.

I am dying!
I've finally come up with a good explanation for you people that doesn't make me feel like a jackass when I have to reference this place - you're my "online mom's group".
This seems to be socially acceptable by all my IRL peeps as no one has questioned me. Unless H is around, who usually goes "do you mean THAT NEST place?"
I recognized that second day hair and striped j.crew vest from a mile away. I did not introduce myself although I think she would have been nice if I had.

I'm waiting for the day where I do a field trip to one of ProfessorArtNerd's colleges/universities, and we spot each other, and I've got, like, 300 kids with me, and I'm all awkward and nervous.
This is exactly what prompted daisybuchannan and I to get together the first time. I kept thinking I'd run into her around town and you know it would be when I'm in sweaty gym clothes with cranky kids, so better to make it an official meeting!
I'd like to think I'd say hello if I recognized someone from here, but maybe not. Once H and I were standing in the airport security line when I noticed a woman ahead of us kept looking at me. My first thought was whether it was someone from here. Nope. It was my aunt's sister. I would have just continued to stand there making awkward glances if she didn't recognize and approach me first, so who knows what I'd do if it really were a GBCNer?
pagas, I'm glad you did say hello! Trying to explain it to other friends IS awkward.
And I'm so happy we did!
meganew, this reminds me that I saw you years ago while I lived in old city. I never said anything bc I was an infrequent poster on the nest, but I totally recognized you and your h! You were pregnant at the time. I was eating outside, so it would've been quite strange if I leaped from my table to chase you, lol.

I will likely be showing a completely outrageous Robert Mapplethorpe photo or making a dick joke when you do haha

FYI, if anyone every recognizes my neck-down self, that's cool. We're "friends from college" or you're also a "lawyer," which works well with my family. Since I'm the only lawyer they accept that perhaps nearly all women attorneys may know each other because of vague women attorney associations and things.

If anyone is ever in London and sees this face, please come and say 'hello'! I'm friendly and I'll direct you to wherever you want to go (including the best bars/pubs) or even treat you to a drink. I'm nice that way. ;-)

Seriously?! I didn't think I would be recognizable, although I guess I AW enough! Lol. Please chase me next time!!!

I love the idea of running into someone from the interwebz in real life and recognizing each other and saying hi. I'm pretty friendly that way!
Maybe I really need to dive into things here so that I am recognizable and if anyone sees me out and about, they can yell "HEEEEYYY SHITS AND GIGGLES!!!"
I ran into someone from MM at the airport in Cancun last spring. We had both mentioned that we were going to that general area the same week, but I didn't realize we were flying to the same airport on the same day. I saw her in line to go through customs, and we did say hello. It was kind of awkward because I was with my whole family and they were a little "WTF are you talking about" when I said I knew her from the internet, lol.
I think it would have been way more weird not to say hello though! And I wish it was under different circustmances because she's super nice and I would have liked to chat more!

ESF recognized me in court once. Well, I stated my appearance and recognized my name. I was with opposing counsel, and she was with her boss, so she just messaged me after which was too bad because it would have been nice to talk. It wouldn't freak me out if someone said hi to me, as long as I was alone or they did it covertly.
If anyone sees a cute, bespectacled toddler with curly hair out with a supafly honeydip with impeccable style and an aura of greatness, please say hello!
