I have my grandma's pumpkin pie recipe with a list of ingredients and no instructions. I'm hoping someone can help me with instructions. I've been googling to no avail. I know I probably shouldn't just throw it all in a bowl and put it in the crust.
Here are the ingredients for two pies:
2c. pumpkin 1/2t. salt 2c. sugar 1t. ginger 1t. cinnamon 2 c. milk 3 eggs 2T molasses
start at 400 for 15 minutes and reduce to 350 for 45 minutes.
Also, I know she used the pre-made pie crusts. I have a pie dish that she used that has a glass pie plate and a metal one too. They seem to fit together. Do I bake the pie in both or in the metal one and then serve in the glass one? I'm lost.
My grandma passed away a few weeks ago so I can't ask her and I'm having one of those panicked moments right now about her being gone.
I would beat the eggs, sugar, and salt together first, then add pumpkin, then the other ingredients. I don't know about the pie plate. I would bake it in the metal one, and then serve it in the glass one.
I am not quite understanding what you mean about the pie plates. Pie plates normally seem to fit inside each other, just because of the way they are shaped. They always stack nicely for storage.
Whether you bake in glass or metal is more of a personal preference...glass and metal bake a little differently. You can't really transfer a pie from one pie plate to another very easily. I don't think i have ever seen anyone do that.
