DS woke up tonight with a fever. It was 101.5. We JUST started preschool - this is the second week and he only goes for 2.5 hours. If it breaks at morning, should I send him? Or keep him home.
He's just starting to get comfortable there.... Argh! He also had his two year vaccines on Monday, so I'm not sure exactly the cause of the fever, if that makes a difference.
Could be the vaccines. DD always spiked fevers with vaccinations. Does he have any other symptoms? What time does he go in? If he seems otherwise okay and the fever breaks, I think I would send him. But if he seems cranky/clingy, even if it breaks, I would keep him home.

He goes in at 9, but he's a messy and I'm a mess. He went back for 20 minutes and for the first time ever, I'm trying to get him to sleep in our bed -- it's not working. I've hardly slept so poor DH is coming back home. Blah, between night time insomnia and DS, I'm a mess.

I felt bad, so it told DH not to come back home. He's watching the iPad in our bed. Parenting fail. His fever has dropped. I think I'm going to send him and try to nap. MOTY. I really wish we can family nearby.

Parenting IS hard!
We have local family and we never get a break. But, we work full time, so sometimes he goes to daycare even though we are off. In fact, DH is off on Thursdays, and DS goes to daycare anyway. So I get it!
Hopefully your kiddo is just reacting to the shots and not coming down with something.

Oh, and DH does mornings (I'm at work before the rest of the family even wakes up!) and he gives DS the iPad in bed every single day while he showers. It's not bad parenting. DS loves that time when he gets to cuddle in mommy and daddy's bed and watch Disney Collector on YouTube.

Our school policy is fever free for 24 hours. It's definitely tough, but really it's for the health of your child and the other students. Especially if he didn't sleep well and isn't feeling 100%, the best option is rest so that he doesn't end up missing even more days. Hope he's better soon!
Our center policy is 24 hours fever free without meds. I had to pick my ds up yesterday with a 100.8 fever and now it's 103 this morning with no other symptoms Please don't send him. There is so much shit going around. Keep him home to keep him and the other children safe.
Wish you were closer! I'd love to hang out with him and give you a break! I have local family, but they are totally useless (my mom is awesome but works full time). My mom friends are my new family.

I'm not going to send him and I'm so upset over the decision I could cry. I'm exhausted, I've been solo parenting all week, I need a break. He seems happy as a clam now.

iPad and tv day! No shame in doing what you can to get through days like this.
I'm glad you aren't sending him. I'm sorry that you aren't getting a break. Can you lie down and rest/sleep while he plays?
He's napping and I'm about to as well. He was fine with a normal temp until about noon. We did go to the park so he could run and then at noon, the fever came back and he melted down again. Poor baby. I hope he takes a good nap!

Our preschool requires kids to be 24 hours fever free without medicine. My DD had a fever last Wednesday evening; it was gone by Thursday morning at 7 am when she woke up, so I sent her in for 9 am preschool on Friday. Anything later, and I would have kept her home.
