This is specifically for a TROPICAL vacation, which I have two coming up and strangely it's not something we usually do. I also don't live somewhere that's humid or has crazy hot weather, so this is extra different from what I'm used to. Other vacations, like Europe or something, I do normal makeup, but I'm wondering if a) I should let my skin breath and/or b) there will be no point anyway, lol. I just feel SO naked and pale without anything (although maybe I'll get a little bit of color!). I've thought about getting my lashes tinted or something to make me feel a little better. Or maybe only bring stuff like mascara and some lip color, but skip anything on my face.
What's your routine?
ETA: part of me would say not to wear any, but then I remember we'll probably take lots of pictures (one trip is Malawi/Zambia) and I really would look washed out if I didn't wear any makeup
I stick to my normal routine, because well, it's routine lol. On tropical vacations during the day, I will swap my foundation for a tinted moisturizer with spf and go lighter on the eyes, but still wear eyeliner and mascara. And at night, I go back to full face, and probably wear more than my normal routine.

Sorry if this is a dumb question but will you be physically spending time out on the beach and stuff?
If yes- I stock up on SPF moisturizer/facial sunscreen when I'm gonna be laying out and such and I feel like it clogs my pores, but also leaves me dry. So I tend to over-moisturize when I'm there on top of my normal routine and then just accept the fact that my makeup will sweat off if I'm outside for too long.
By the pool/beach/other activities I do SPF, waterproof mascara and maybe some chapstick or a neutral gloss with spf (b/c I've fried my lips in the sun before, never again!)
At night for dinner after we've showere and gotten ready I do my normal makeup. I don't wear foundation normally, the most I do is tinted moisterizer and that's only special occasions mostly. So I'd just do my regular everyday pressed powder/blush and highlighter. I usually can skip bronzer on tropical vacations since I would hope I'd have gotten some color

Tropical - I've dyed my lashes and brought maybe a little soft eyeliner for evening but that's it. I usually have gotten some sun and everything looks dumb. I bring a lip gloss in a nudey/pink shade.

If we're spending lots of time at the beach/pool, I'll go au naturale, or maybe just some powder and chapstick. For a touristy vacation, I do my normal routine.
I do my normal routine because the world does not want to see me without crap on my face. And even more so at the beach when I am scaring children away by going out in a swimsuit. I think I traumatized some folks at Sea World this summer.

well, one is Hawaii and one is Africa (first time for both!)... Africa I don't imagine laying out in the sun as much, but the weather will probably be warm.
Oh and another reason I put on makeup...if in the rare event that I can be a part of a picture with DH and DS then I want to have makeup on. I HATE the way I look with minimal or no makeup. But then of course, I rarely make it into photos. *whomp whomp* I'm always the one taking the pictures of DH and DS.
