Omg! And I want to kick that jackass in the nuts for saying something like that. "Well, don't be a douche and put yourself in these positions and you won't get kick in the balls". Asshole.
It's not that bad, in the sense that the "consent" portion of the notice includes what I'd want to see, at a minimum. The whole "we're taking appropriate follow up measures. . ." Hmmm. I wonder what would happen if they were to receive multiple calls, daily, on what those follow up measures are.

@crackhabit can take it from here
Ha. I meant from concerned parents, but I take your point.
How is being in your dorm putting yourself in these situations? Douchebag.
Someone should tell him to avoid being alone with girls and to keep his hands in his pockets 24/7. You know, to keep himself out of a potentially bad situation.

Right? He just scared away every girl who may have been interested in dating him.
He may also need a Duggar to chaperone his dates in the future. Just in case he can't control his urges.

Well...According to Title 9 rules implemented this year for all higher education institutions that accept federal funding, all acts of sexual inappropriateness (or whatever you want to call them) must be reported to the entire campus in an effort to keep all students safe. HOWEVER, because students are over the age of 18, campus reporters may NOT contact authorities for any reported assault, the victim must be the one to report the assault. Campus is only required to make the incident known to all of campus to alert that there is an issue. In addition, it may not be known who the victim is - if an employee overhears a student talking about it then it must be reported to Title 9 campus delegates, even if the student identity is unknown.
And, from what I understand, the incident must be made public even if charges are only pending. So charges may be pending, but Title 9 is not a criminal investigation.

FFS! This is why students should go to LOCAL police for assault cases. Schools only want to cover that shit. Fucking bullshit. A friend of mine in college was straight up raped (no drugs, no alcohol, not past curfew, in a goddamn parka) and the school didn't lift a finger to help. But the local police did. It's SO hard to have the courage to tell authorities once, let alone again and again... Because schools clearly don't give a damn about assault, it should be policy that local police take those files. /soapbox
Rape was listed as a separate offense. Both were listed.
That may be listed separately because they have a very narrow definition of rape.
For example, the FBI's definition of rape was “The carnal knowledge of a female forcibly and against her will” up until 2013.* There's obviously a huge spectrum of sexual assault (inc. penetration) that falls outside of that.
*The new definition is “Penetration, no matter how slight, of the vagina or anus with any body part or object, or oral penetration by a sex organ of another person, without the consent of the victim.”
