Scheduled induction that started yesterday morning around 9:30ish and I had Patrick in my arms by 5:45pm. 7lbs1oz, 20in long. Things went smoothly and we are so in love with our newest little man. I've attached a couple of pics, too. He looks more and more like James did in the beginning which is awesome and a little surprising.
Feel free to stop here is you're not into birth stories. I love reading them, so I'm including it, but I know they're not everyone's idea of a fun read.
We got to the hosp at 8:30, pitocin was started around 9:30. I was a whooping 1cm, but about 70% effaced. Nurse guessed it would be 10-12h until baby time. Low doses of pitocin just increased the Braxton hicks contractions, but nothing painful that felt like real labor. They moved it up to 6ml (?) dose, but had to bring it back to 4ml when P wasn't tolerating the (still painless) contractions.
OB came by around 12:45ish to check on me and try to break my water. I was still only at a 1. After several very painful attempts, she said we'd try again in the evening. About 5min after she left, painful contractions started and ramped up quickly. Epi at 2pm or so, which I thought was perfect, but left me numb in the legs/back, and still feeling discomfort in the cervix. The discomfort escalated steadily and I thought maybe it was baby time. Yeah no. Only 4cm. I asked for and received another bolus of medicine, which only further numbed my legs/back, but did nothing about stopping the now full on pain in the cervix.
About 30min later, I felt a small gush of water. Two min later I felt like I needed to use the bathroom, followed by feeling my body start involuntarily pushing. :/ I felt like an idiot for calling the nurse again because I had *just* been 4cm, but the urge to push was overwhelming. She came in, confirmed I was at 10cm and called my OB. I had to wait 10min for her to arrive, which felt like the longest 10min EVER. Holding back when your body is screaming to push is horrible, and that was with a semi-functioning epi.
OB arrived and let me tell her when I wanted to push, which was awesome! 4 pushes later he was out.
I was nervous about the induction, but it went about as smoothly as possible. I don't know that I'd recommend going from a 4 to complete in 30min, epi or not, but otherwise, I'm pretty thrilled with the whole process. I will also say that things are much less overwhelming the second time around, for which I'm very grateful. I'm already enjoying him so much more than I did J at this stage.

I LOVE that you're enjoying him more this time gives me hope for the next one. First time jitters was too much for me. I wish I could go back in time.
I feel ya re: failed Epi although mine wasn't the cervix it was back labor and I could also feel the damn catheter in my bladder the whole time with every contraction failed epis suck but totally agree re: relief while pushing.
