In response to an article in our local paper about how the orchards and ag are a neglected part of our local history.  She posted the following "response".
(Please note: no one responded to her.  All 4 of these comments were posted without argument - which may also be a first for our community.  I think even the most jaded commenter was speechless.)

Also, because I was curious and I figured it's an awesome but totally useless piece of information ...

She references a trillion ounces of gold in the mountains. Well, trillions, technically, but it got me curious of how much a trillion ounces is. It turns out to be 31.25 million tons. Which is approximately 170x the quantity of gold which has *ever been mined* (183535 tons). OMG, lol. That would make a cube something like 115m3. Which is ... ginormous.

I am in a few B-S-T/swap groups and a couple of "local info" groups because they are an entertainment gold mine.

Today's gems:
"baby clothes all seasons sized alot asking $5 a walmarts bag"

There is also a lady who is always selling discount toiletries. Today's deals include Right Guard deodorant, $1 and shaving cream, $1.75. I'm not sure if she is re-selling stuff she coupons for, or if she buys it at the scratch and dent/expired discount store about 40 minutes away. I don't think there's much profit margin there if she's driving to meet people with her $1 deodorants.

And, "Need a queen size mattress washer dryer bed frame excel cond dont have much $$under $40 each pref free"
comment: "oh, and also a twin size bed set for free. no junk"

My favorite was the day there was someone on there posting personal ads on behalf of someone else. LOL.

uhhhh....fly swatter? fly trap? after about 4 replies saying "fly swatter" someone else posted "thanks for asking, I've been wondering!"

mrs.jacinthe, at least your person has some imagination and is not literally dumber than a box of rocks.

I stopped looking at mine because people will haggle about everything. And all the expired makeup and toiletries were driving me crazy.

We have a lady on mine who is so, so negative. If the town does anything, she blows up about it and questions if this is where her tax dollars are going. Drives me crazy. People call her out all of the time. I just couldn't imagine having so much negativity inside of me.
