My uncle is the GM at one of the resorts there, he and my aunt were there for the storm. They said it was awful, they were fortunate no one died:( The area is pretty well destroyed:(
I know I was reading stories and looking at pictures and I'm so happy no one was seriously injured.
We literally missed the storm by a few days. Could you swap to Cancun or another part of Mexico? I know that many of the resorts are honoring reservations at other locations and that most of the airlines are not charging change fees.
If you are fairly close, we always liked Jamaica (Couples Resorts).
November seems like such a long time to be closed. I haven't been able to watch the news did they get hit really hard?
Complete devastation, no power, the airport is closed and the mexican military is airlifting people to other airports so they can get home. Looting, etc.. It's bad.

A coworker was supposed to go to Cabo on his honeymoon on Monday. They had to rebook about a month ago because the time of one flight got changed, and they would have missed their connection home. Instead of paying a lot more money for flights that would work out, they decided to go to the DR instead. He's so happy with that decision right now.

Okay, I think we are going to postpone it.
We were gifted timeshare points from my in-laws for my birthday so to continue to have this be a "gifted" vacation we are going to have to beg for the timeshare company to let us roll over the points to next year.
Maybe in February or march we could rebook at this same hotel.

What hotel were you going to if you don't mind me asking?
Go when it is convenient for you to go - but do reschedule. (I don't care when my birthday gets celebrated and not one of those people who is upset if it is not on "the day".) Do something to acknowledge your 30th - but it does not have to be a trip if you want to make a change of plans.
