Be lame? I want to get nice photos taken of Hobo and myself, with some of just Hobo to send to his foster family. They love updates about him and I think it would be a nice gesture.
Also, because he is over 13 now, his hips are going, and I want photos of him to keep.

I wish I had pictures of me and my cat Cricket, who died 12 years ago. There isn't even a snapshot of us together and I would've loved to have some really nice pictures. Do it!

Not at all! I had wanted the dogs to be in our family pics with our newborn last year but they are crazy and we could not get someone to help us out that day. We will try again this year but I doubt it will happen. I wish I could photoshop them in

I have a bunch of my pup and myself when she was younger. Haven't done it recently we went when the pup was 5/6 months old after I'd been DX. My sister thought I should go have fun bald pictures taken with the dog. We did some more when she changed out some equipment a few months later and wanted to play around with lighting. She'd found a box of old glamour shot props the lady she was working with still had. Did a whole series of puppy glamour shots.

I think we've established I'm a wee bit obsessed with my dog. I would do it. I have, actually. In our family pics, I got some taken with just the puppy and me.
Not lame in the slightest. We took engagement pictures with our dogs and I am so, so happy we have them. We put one of our dogs to sleep last year and those photos of him make me smile every time. Do it!

I mean, I'm pretty obsessed with this dog. I tell him he is my BFF. He is getting older, though. It feels like he is getting "too old" much too fast.
I will absolutely share with the class when I do this.
Here, have pictures of him: Attachment Deleted "My name is Hobo. I'm sad that you're sitting on the couch. I am a dog. " Attachment Deleted "My life is hard. "
I am not an animal lover at all (sorry!) but even I don't think pro pictures of or with your pet are even the tiniest bit strange/lame/weird. I know lots of people who have done them and a local photographer even had a pet photo package.

Oh my gosh he is so so cute and handsome! He doesn't really resemble my dog Rudy (who died in 2010) who was a shepherd mix but they have the same soulful, expressive eyes.

Thanks!
It was pretty much love at first sight. We were looking into getting a dog and wanted to rescue. Stumbled upon him. 10 years old, overweight, and grumpy. He looked quite stately in his rescue glamour shot!
They did a home visit and that was it. BFFs and couch buddies for lyfe.

That is incredibly special that you adopted a 10 year old dog. Not many people would do that.

I prefer to adopt older animals. Fi likes to joke I'm running a retirement home... We've got Hobo, Peters (a 20+ year old cockatiel we took in from an acquaintance), and I'm looking at getting another older animal when Hobo passes, if not before.
They just strike a cord in me. Nobody should have to be shuffled around at that age.

I agree. Seeing an older dog in a shelter makes me so upset at the owners that would do that.
My dogs were both adopted as adults but they were younger, probably around 3 or 4 years old. I like to think I would do what you did the next time around. I hate to think of any dog in a shelter but an older dog especially breaks my heart.
The dogs I have adopted have all been the super shy ones, that don't make a good impression at the shelter because they are too scared to come up to the cage and interact with you. They are cowering in the back. They just need love and patience.
And one advantage of an older dog is that you know what you are getting in terms of size and, usually, temperament!

Ha! Yes! Well, not Hobo. Hobo looked like a stately gentleman and we ended up with a goofy, sad faced old man of a dog who mopes about things. He is perfect lol
