So only book lovers can understand this "dilemma"... We're going away to a lake house for the week, and I have the luxury of choosing what books to bring along. I have one day all to myself ( dh has class) and then other random lounging. So, do I tackle a huge classic? Count of Monte Cristo has been on my shelf forever. Or go for some lighter/shorter reads. I have Landline, Major Pettigrews Last Stand, at least one or two Dorthea Benton Frank books, and various chick lit/beachy titles. I'll probably go for a mix - bring it all and read what I feel like.
I recently had this same dilemma. I put aside the super long A Dance with Dragons (Game of Thrones) for the vacation and chose very easy light reads. I didn't have much time to read with a toddler running around but I managed to get through two books and start a third.
I would pick a fantasy series I want to immerse myself in, most likely. Since those tend to have lengthy books but not be classics, I guess my answer is none of the above.

Bring them all! I'd go for a mix, definitely. I like to go back and forth on vacation -- something a little more literary then a lighter mystery. My personal quirk would be to avoid long books on vacation, because I love coming home and feeling like I read a gazillion books while I was gone. Longer books are easier for me to sink into on my normal schedule.
I love packing books for vacation! I always bring way more than I know I'll read so that I have choices. I tend to stick to light/easy reads or a good series.

I'd bring them all. Sometimes it's nice to start a big, heavy classic on vacation, but it's nice to have other options as well. I'd hate to being only that one and not have an option if I'm just not feeling it once I'm away.
