So should I pay the kid down the street $30 to fix my 4, so I can trade it into Verizon and get the $200 credit, thus making a new 6 free? I'm due for an upgrade with Verizon.

I don't get why people all go to the Apple store. They sell the iphone at a billion places. Target sells it. Target was empty today. Why not just go to the one of those places? Is there something cool about waiting in line at the apple store.

I'm totally planning on going to Target to see the phones in person.

... Or why they don't preorder. I know that some people want to see it in person before buying, but I'd imagine most people in line are going to buy it anyway.
The WORST PART was seeing the beautiful iPhone in the box.....on the table in front of me.....unreachable.
The folks at Radio Shack said that there is a huge line at the apple store in my city of well over 500 people. Radio Shack was empty!!!
My plan to Radio Shack has been foiled. The three I called today all said they will have to call me back since they don't know how many extra phones they will receive in addition to the pre-ordered ones. Womp womp.
That is what happened to me. I just called at 9 am, spoke to the manager, and she called back at 10:30 and said she had put one aside for me. If you want to come to Providence you can have my phone from my Radio Shack. /sadtrombone.

And these lines persist for WEEKS.
By the time that people some people woke up on pre-order day, it was already backordered though, right? This way you can get it that very day.

After an hour at Radio Shack with an iPhone 6 in front of me with a sticky on it with my name on it, I walked out without one due to issues wiht my account. They couldn't figure out how to grandfather my plan and process the upgrade, it wasn't showing upgrade eligible even though it did last week. I even called AT&T at the store and they couldn't get it to work.
So if anyone else has an old iPhone that they are interested in selling to rikki I know it would be greatly appreciated.
Because apparently I can't get an upgrade until January 2.
I'm trying to activate mine now. It keeps asking for my billing account password, which I keep thinking that I dial in, but it keeps saying that's not the right one. What. The. Fuccccckkkkk!

I ordered my husband's in the afternoon (EST) on pre-order day, and I ordered mine through Verizon the next day -- and both arrived today. So they could have had them without waiting in line even if they didn't plan perfectly! (Unless they wanted a Plus, but waiting in line wouldn't help much with that either).
Still, I think the people who camp out outside the store and such are a special type and not just people who didn't get to preorder in time.

Well last year when the 5S and 5C came out they only got like four 16g iPhones. But ya I'm sure best buy and the carriers have more selection. I preordered though.

I ran to the Braintee Mall over lunch (not to go to the Apple Store) and it was insane. Lines all the way around the entire floor.
Are you still looking to buy one? Were you looking for a 5 or 5S? I have a 5 in pretty much mint condition bc mine was recalled with the battery issues.
Mine came around 3-4? I was out, but my husband called to tell me. He wanted to open it, so I said ok lol. I love it!! I have to change my case plan. I wanted to wait to see it in person before ordering a case and that was a good call.
What makes you need to change your case plan? I just ordered a case online (and begrudgingly paid shipping), so hopefully I won't regret that.

OMG...the same thing is happening to me. RRAAAAAAGE.

Have you figured it out yet? I was so frustrated that I had to walk away for a little bit.

I maaaay have thrown H's phone (that I was using to call and activate) across the room. It landed on the couch so it was okay. I called and waited on hold for 15 minutes and finally got through to someone really nice. She activated it and said something about the password being 4 or 5 letters or numbers. I was thoroughly confused and she had to use the last four digits of the ssn to get into my account. So, in the end, it was SUPER frustrating, but worth it. Used iTunes to restore my phone and it's fabulous.

OMG we're having the same experience! H's phone is a total POS, but he gets a new one with his new job, so he's not getting a new phone. His phone keeps shutting off on me. GAH, for the first time EVER I wish I had a land line. Which is super ironic, given that I'm trying to activate my cell phone! Soooo frustrating!

I also had about a 15 minute hold period, but had GREAT customer service. The dude was super patient and good at troubleshooting. Kudos to Verizon!
How long does the iTunes backup take? I've had the iCloud backup going for 2 hrs and it still says 3 hrs remaining...of course I haven't backed it up since Feb 2013, so...

Oh good! I was just coming back to ask if you got through. Hope you're busy playing with your 6 right now!

I backed my old phone up to iTunes yesterday and it took maybe 10 minutes or so. Then I used it to restore my new phone in under 10 minutes tonight.

The iTunes backup was pretty quick. I needed to update my iTunes too, which adds time. ,

Verizon peeps...I got my trade-in packaging, and this was inside. The problem is my phone isn't set to ship until October, so obviously I can't activate it by Sept. 30. Anyone else dealing with this?
