I didn't see this before but I am glad that the issue has been fully resolved.
My Dad is a GM technician and we have twice gotten new 'family cars' that were unfixables from the dealership. My Dad would drive them around for sometimes up to 6 months trying to get the original problem to occur. Wiring/computer/electrical issues can be a nightmare to diagnose.
In one case, there was a wiring short that would only occur when the trunk was ajar and the driver made a right turn signal in reverse gear. When it finally happened in a parking lot downtown I remember being in the car and my Dad doing the same thing over and over again to prove the exact conditions.
