I don't think I've ever posted on here. My H and I have been ttc for about 3 yrs now. We have tried fertility vitamins, temping, opks, books, ultrasound (showed I had follicles), and sperm analysis (slow swimmers). We're moving toward more invasive measures. My MD wants to do an interventional radiology (IR) procedure to check for tube blockages. Has anyone had that done? If all is clear with that, we may move to IUI. Just wondering if anyone has experience with the IR procedure. Thank you!

I haven't heard it referred to as that, but maybe he is referring to a hysterosalpingogram (HSG)? That's a very common step in infertility testing where they inject a contrast dye into the uterus/Fallopian tubes and use an x-ray to look for blockages and abnormalities. I think a few girls here have had it done, but you're also welcome to come visit us on the Trouble TTC board; most of us there have had HSGs.
Trying for #3; FET 8/18 -- BFN. Leaving things up to chance for now... After three years, three IVFs, and two FETs, we finally have our miracle babIES!

Thank you! It was an HSG, couldn't think of the term. I'll post on the other board to, didn't realize there was that one.

The bad experiences has me worried. :-\
I just had a FemVue done last week (an HSG using sterile water and air instead of contrast dye). some people have very little discomfort. I had some significant cramping during certain parts of the procedure (when she was blowing up the balloon, when she was pushing the water through my tubes). It was definitely uncomfortable for me, but afterwards I was completely fine.

It's good for some and bad for others. Either way it is absolutely necessary that it be done prior to any medications and treatments. If you have a blockage, your treatment options change drastically and it would be a total waste of time and money for you to do IUIs if that is the case.
Hopefully all will be clear and it will be an easy test.
