We just moved into our new place a few weeks ago. For the most part, we love it, but the landlord is proving to be kind of a dick. This is complicated by the fact that he is the father of one of H's piano students. I didn't love the idea of crossing that line, but we needed to move and the place was awesome.
We've had lots of little issues (missing keys, lights and fans that don't work, leaks, etc) that he still hasn't addressed, and the paint job that was supposed to be done before we moved in was never completed. All of these things were supposedly going to be addressed in "early September".
The other day we got a notice (labeled 2nd notice) from the gas company that we've been using cooking gas without a proper account. Our lease states that cooking gas is included in the rent. H sent an email to the landlord about it, who responded that it wasn't included, but heat was. H didn't have the lease in front of him at the time, so he didn't say anything else, but our lease indeed includes cooking gas AND heat, so wtf landlord?
Since it's in the lease, he has to take care of it, correct?
