When y'all go get massages due to nagging muscles, do you get a regular massage or a sports massage? My calves are also very angry and the place near my house offers both. I'm inclined to do sports, but I've never had one so I'm unsure of what to expect.
I see this place also offers a deep tissue massage. Would this be a decent way to go? Or should I just schedule the sports massage?

It depends on what you want out of it. Stress related sore muscles and tension, I get a swedish to relax. Calf pain that could inhibit your performance calls for a sports massage. A sports massage, or deep tissue massage, can be really painful during but works wonders after. In my experience, NOT fun to get. OUCH.
I should also mention I've heard the sports massage is quite painful. If they know it's my calf, do they tend to focus on that? Or can I tell them to focus on my calves and stick to my legs overall? How does that part work?
The Stick is great, but not quite great enough this time around...
I go to a physical therapy place to get them - so they only do sports massage. Yes they are quite painful and sometimes leave nasty bruises. When I was going for a specific injury, my therapist only worked on that leg. When I go for general tightness or crankiness, thy do both but spend time working out any knots they find, so extra time goes to the cranky leg.

You can request that they work on whatever you want. If you have an area you want them to focus on, talk to the LMT before you have the massage.
