Dh was having back pain, he thought it was causing the stomach pain but now it the back pain is gone and his stomach still hurts. He said it feels like someone uppercut him. Its right under his ribs. Its been a few days. MIL had her gallbladder removed when Dh was little so it does run in this family. Anything I should watch for? Since its been a few days should I push going to the doctor?

I experienced those symptoms with gallstones. Hope he gets checked out. If it's that, a low-fat, non-fat diet is supposed to help keep the attacks under control, but the pain was so awful and the only solution for me was surgery.
My gall bladder pain started under my right ribs, wrapped around my back under my arm and up to my left shoulder. I was nauseous, but felt more like burping than vomiting.
The attack that sent me to the ER to get it yanked, I had just gotten up and hadn't eaten anything in over 12 hours. For me, the low fat diet was useless. I had attacks, regardless of what I ate....or even when I didn't eat.
The first few times, my attacks were in the middle of the night, and tended to resolve on their own in less than 30 min. They occurred about once/mo, then started increasing in frequency to 1-2/week, length of time and intensity. They lasted over 2 hours and the pain just came in waves at the end.

What athena3210 and mich1 said although my attacks never happened in the middle of the night. They were always right after I ate something with a high fat content.
He needs to go the doctor. If it gets really bad he should go right to the ER.

I was never so glad o get rid of it.
This was my experience, too. But an incompetent doctor meant it took 2 years to correctly diagnose... In the end my attacks would last 2-3 days. I spent most of the time writhing on the ground or in bed in pain.

The take away from my story: when your husband guys in, he should specifically say he thinks it might be his gallbladder. Otherwise the symptoms can be misdiagnosed.

He can't go today unless we go to the ER which he will refuse. I'm going to call and make an apt for tomorrow. He's not a complainer and honestly thinking back this happened a few times in the last year. I just want him to fell better.
I broke down and went to the ER because my attack lasted so long. If an attack lasts too long, there is a chance it will get septic and 6 weeks earlier, I had just had a hip replacement and needed to protect that.
If your DH is normally not a complainer and is complaining, I think you need to look to the ER for help.
I went to the ER with symptoms like this and spent four days in the hospital; gall stones had become infected and it affected my liver and pancreas too. Get his ass in there; this does not get better on its own.
See also Sparky. Don't let undiagnosed belly pain linger. That shit turns bad quickly.
It sounds like my gall stone symptoms. I had mostly pain in my back right near my ribs, plus nausea. It would last for about 8 hours (always at night) and go away in the morning. I had 3 severe attacks in 5 days and then they took out my gall bladder (mine was post-baby hormone related - about 5 weeks after DS1 was born).
Eta: I went to the ER the first time and then the third time - which was when they admitted me for observation and eventually surgery.

Options were giving. I'm conceding to a doctors apt this week. I know he needs to go to the ER but he will start acting like a child and tell me I'm "MOTHERING" him. If he wants to suffer that's his problem. I'll make him an appointment and then he can deal with it from that point.
