Oh, cons…I don't' know? I could always do most cardio on an empty stomach, but couldn't do weights. When I ran I could never run on an empty stomach though, I always had oatmeal before a race.
Doing long, steady-state cardio can be a fat-fueled endeavor and that's where fasted cardio comes in. If you're doing short, intense cardio, you're probably better off to eat because it's more glycolytically demanding.
Don't you have enough glycogen stores to get you through 30-45 minutes? So you have to go longer than that (fasted) to tap into fat stores? For some reason I feel like I've heard that, but I could be wrong

I would pass out if I tried to do a 3-4 hour bike ride without eating anything during it.

You lost me at glycolytically.
So if I go in the morning I shouldn't eat before correct? Stupid question but a protein shake counts as food right?
Glycolytically demanding means you're using your glycogen (sugar) stores rather than fat as fuel. If you're wanting to do fasted cardio, then you shouldn't eat before working out, including a protein shake.

Ohhhh me too. I can do a 90 minute moderate spin on the trainer without eating but I don't feel that great by the end

I pretty much always run on an empty stomach, but only because I get super awful stomach issues if I eat before. I can go up to 10 miles without fueling, but if I'm going longer than that, I end up eating every 45 minutes or so.
I do insanity on empty stomach, as well. Most of the time I'm working out right after rolling out of bed.
