Italy is amazeballs. I have a tipping question.

Okay, number one. I'm a little tipsy right now. How is the wine so much better here?!?! I don't even like wine but decided to try it because when in Rome...(literally). OMG, it was so good! And so cheap! *This* must be what all the wine fuss is about! 

Number two. Today has been the absolute best. We walked everywhere. Rome is everything I imagined and more. So much people watching. I had a pancetta and mozzarella sandwich for lunch. Dar Poeta pizza (and wine!!) for dinner. We watched a funny man wreck his duct-tape-covered car, laugh, and keep going. My cats are home and well taken care of. I could die happy right now. 

Number three. I have a tipping question. The caretaker at our B&B is awesome. He is not the owner. He checked us in early and made us delicious coffee and breakfast to enjoy while he cleaned our room. He makes made-to-order breakfast every morning and seems offended if you don't order all.the.things. I should tip him, right? When and how much is appropriate? If it matters, we are staying four nights and the room is an absolute steal at 150 euro/night.

Tipping is not common there. I was told I was generous when I gave 10% of the bill. I think if you have him a little something upon your departure he would be thrilled. I would probably do at least 20€ if it was me, but then again I am generous :-)

I love Italy! Enjoy the wine!

Regarding the tipping, 10% is the norm. So I would do 15€ per day. If you're thrilled with the service, maybe throw in an extra 10%.

I would not tip unless it was a restaurant and then much less than the U.S.

When we were in Rome our B&B caretaker told us the best gift you can give them is positive reviews, as it's a highly competitive market in Rome
