What sort of work do you do? Are you a CPA? I am a CPA with a master's, and I started at a big 4 and now work in industry as a tax mgr. I think my salary is pretty normal for my job and area (Mediumish COL) but I know I live in a bubble.

Tax accountant, don't have my CPA yet because my current boss doesn't require it (I work for a small firm). I was mostly being TIC, I'm only 25 and live in a LCOL area, but I strive to be you someday

Wording this is very tricky, but... I was always annoyed by the attitude toward "rich" people on my BMB, since "rich" seemed to be roughly defined as HHI over $75k or so. I mean, I realize that's significantly higher than average in the U.S., but the attitude seemed to be that people in that range or higher should never complain about money and are snobby. Granted, most of the BMB also seemed to be in the midwest, in LCOL areas, but it was grating.

I work for a wealth management firm. I have been with the firm 8 years and my total comp has more than tripled since I started. I got my MBA in 2011 which was a big boost.

My base salary is $100k, but I get quarterly and holiday bonuses, commission for clients I brought in, and a super generous profit share contribution.

I work 7-4 and never plan to leave, although I may adjust hours or days at some point.

I make way less than I should because I work very part-time in my field and I work for myself. When DD gets too cool for me, I'll up my hours and days.

I make a about $45,000. I am a teacher without my masters. (Starting the masters program next year). DH makes well over 6 figures. My income is "fun money" essentially.

I'm a student, but my stipend is in the $0-$25k range.

I'm a teacher on my 8th year and I make $45K. H makes around $50K but is a head LAX coach so that brings in a nice $10K stipend in his district.

It doesn't make financial sense for me to stay home, though. We live in a really expensive state and can't rely on H's salary alone. I take care of half the bills with my salary and we don't usually have too much left over for savings.

I answered for msniq. She is on the administrative staff at a state university, 5 days/week. She's somewhere slightly under $75K. Her position is "JD preferred" and she has a law degree and has passed the bar, but for kooky reasons her position is not technically an attorney position.

But I am PSLF eligible which is huge, financially--will have about $120K of SL debt forgiven in 2020. And I have good benefits, flexibility, and legit enjoy what I do and have good CWs now although there have been some hard times.

Thank God my H makes a lot, I guess.

I work 25 hours a week and make $52,000 a year.  Eta, I am a CPA, do not have a master's.  I am a part time accounting manager for a small real estate investment company.

I make about 70k, and I also am only paying about 15% in taxes. I would probably make a little more than half of that if I were working at a similar job in the US.

It is a very nice change from last year where I make less than 10k as a grad student.

I actually don't think that is that bad. At my last public job after five years I made less than 29k for 40 hrs. It is the biggest reason I left.

I make $50k as a web designer, LCOL area. I'm the breadwinner right now since DH started his own business two years ago. Right now anything he makes is extra. Had he taken a corporate job when we moved he'd be making a little more than me.

I love my job and learned during ML that I'm not cut out to SAH. Plus I'm the benefits holder right now so I need to be 40 hours.

As a first year teacher before I had my master's degree, I made $44k, but I live in a fairly HCOL area in one of the largest counties in the country. Now with my master's degree and after 4 years, I make $54k.

I'm a controls/manufacturing/test engineer at a company that manufactures products for lawn and garden. I make just over 80k with a potential bonus of 6% that depends on the company as a whole, not individual performance.

Every time these polls come up, I feel very underpaid. But all my salary analyses assure me I'm right where I should be for my area.

Also, I wish I was one of those saying my husband makes way more!! LOL. I've always made quite a bit more than him.

I actually took a pay cut for more flexibility but I still have my foot in the door at least.

More or less this. I work on a per-project basis. Some years, I make 2-3x as much as the previous year. Some years, I take on projects that pay much less because its good for my career (can lead to other things) or I outright turn down projects because I can't commit to the deadline for one reason or another (late pregnancy or DD's school vacation schedule).

@gravytrain, I'm in public library management ($75k-$100k range). My next position should get me right at $100k or a tad more. This is in Manhattan.

If my title were still Librarian my salary would top out at around $60k (with my masters). That wasn't gonna work long-term given our student loans so I went for a manager position 5 years ago and that makes it easier to breathe financially in this VHCOL area.

Jalapeñomel, you'll make much more than $47k within the next 5-10 years. $100k is after about 20-25 years, I think. I'll have I ask H when I return from out of town.
