1) I have a spider bite. H has the steroid cream in his bathroom bag in elk camp. I called the doctor, but they won't refill a prescription I had for it because it's too old. I'm not coming in for a 24 hour old spider bite! I just wanted my drugs to make it go away faster.
2) I've posted a lot about Wyatt's kidney saga. I found a human grade version for significantly less money. I called the vet to ask about it. First of all, I'm never allowed to talk to the vet. It's always through the receptionist. Two, she was all "well, the canine version really is best." That's great, but we're talking about $53 for a five week supply vs. $16 for the same duration. That ain't chump change when we're talking about potentially life-long drugs, yo. The issue is they don't seem to understand cost is an issue. It's a holistic vet (and the only one in town to boot), so I'm sure they aren't use to money-conscious clients. Plus I feel like they try and nickle and dime me for EVERYTHING. I miss my normal, super awesome vet.
That sucks. My doc had no problem prescribing my goldens seizure meds to to Walgreens (I had to explain every time that it was for a dog.lol.) What is the exact difference between the two meds? Just cost? I'd demand to speak with a vet when he is able.
There are some different ingredients, but it's all hippy stuff. Basically the dog version has some extra bovine extracts from various parts and some black currant oils. Hardly seems worth it the extra cost to me, but I'm not the expert.
Mostly my regular vet ALWAYS calls me back when I have a question, and understands that sometimes pets are just pets. I'll do whatever I can for him, but this could be the difference of $4,000 over his life.

lol. You're talking to a girl that spent 3k on a back surgery on their pup. Who got the condition from jumping fences. WHO STILL JUMPS FENCES. And I also spend about $100 bucks a month on acupuncture and Chiro. Sigh. lol.
Is there another vet you can go to? I forgot what you said in your last post about this.
Oh I'm fully expecting Wyatt to need some kind of major vet bill at some point, and I'd absolutely do it within reason. But if I could save 4k for what is almost the same thing....
There are regular vets with some holistic training, but no other clinics. So, anybody who wants to start one, I've got a market for you....
