My husband just came home and told me we are moving to Oklahoma... in December! He just got orders from his monitor. When we first got stationed here I was hoping that we could make this a permanent duty station and he could finish his 20 years here, but I guess thats not happening now. I can't even think about everything that has to be done before the move and after. It was so much easier when DD was a baby. Now I have to get her registered in a new school, find a new therapist for her, and she just started kung fu at this awesome martial arts studio and is doing so well, she is going to be so sad to move. I'd much rather have him go on another deployment than have to move our entire family.
Not really. His unit is supposed to deploy sometime next year, but it won't be hard to find someone to take his spot. He's going to be teaching at a school instead.
Aww, I'm sorry. I remember all the "surprise, we're moving!" talks while growing up since my dad was in the navy my whole life, but as a kid I always just rolled with the punches. So hopefully your kids adjust quickly. I hope that it's a smooth transition for you.
Eesh that stinks. How many more years in does he have?
About 10 years
Yikes. Hang in there.
You also currently stationed somewhere infinitely cooler than OK, yes? LIke CA or something? Sorry this happened, I know it is not the news you were hoping for.

I'm guessing its cold in Oklahoma? LOL I was born in Chicago but moved to FL as a kid. I lived in Jacksonville NC for 6 months and GA for 3 years. Have been stationed in SoCal for the past 3 years, so I don't really know what cold is like. Anything below 70 and I pull out my boots and a light jacket.
I'm sorry for the not good news. When I first hovered over the topic I thought it said he just got his orders from his mother?! So hopefully it's not that bad?
Are you going to be in OKC or Lawton? I'm just north of OKC. It's really not bad. The winters are usually pretty mild. Feel free to pm me with any questions.

I'm sorry. We just moved from Altus, Oklahoma. I can't say I was sad to go.
Where are you guys going? If it's near OKC, it won't be too bad. If it's Lawton, I'm sorry. If it's Enid, I'm really sorry. If it's Altus, you have my deepest condolences.
